Engine conversion Insurance

  500bhp Scoob

Just wondering to all the people that have had willy/gtt engine transplants, what insurance company you are using, and how much it bumped your premium up.

Ive got an insurance renewal in april, but my car will be offroad for a while before then as im doing an engine conversion.

If you could tell me the amount of NCB youve got, and how much its costing to insure your car, then that would be a great help.

I very much doubt that liverpool victoria will want to touch me after i mention the words turbo conversion

Admiral wont touch me, they said anything but the engine conversion and theyd insure me lol.

The engine is only out of a group 9, or 11 car, i cant remember lol

Adrian Flux are great unless you actually want to be paid out in an accident or drive your car with the mods on it.

Im paying £2350 with Brentacre, fully comp, unlimited styling mods, engine power up to 210bhp £550 excess. Great company, they are actually bothered about modified cars and very friendly and helpful, highly recomended. Speak to John on 01792 650933 Marcus is insured with them too.

for comparison HIC wanted over 6K! and Flux wanted 4.5k! Liverpool Victoria wouldnt insure me.

Im 22, 2 years NCB, 1 crash in 2000 which made no difference and no points.
My insurance went up ~ £500 with the conversion.

cool, how did liv-vic take it when u tried telling them.

I got an idea theyll tell me where to go, as its a 1.8 turbo engine.

Will be 20 with 1 year NCB, no accidents.

Paying 1200 now, so if im paying 1200 next year, it wouldnt be a shock

i pay £550 all mods and engine swap delcared with adrian flux.they great didnt charge any extra for half the mods on there.only another £200 i think it was to put 5obhp of nos too.

Liverpool Victoria, no longer accept mods. I got to find myself a new insurance company if I want to lower my car and put a new exhaust on :(

What? What if you are already insured with them? Can you renew with mods declared?

you should be able to, i did in September

a lot of it is rumours about Liv Vic

when i renewed i spoke to them again about my conversion, and i was even passed through to the claims dept to be reassured that given the event of a claim, as long as i had receipts for all the work i will be paid out based on that

hmmm, well ill only be getting a 3rd party fire and theft policy with them, so hopefully the engine conversion wont bump it up too high..

When i got my insurance with them, i made them read thru all the mods that id told them. but when they sent the insurance certificate, it didnt have any mods on there, althou they have got my mods on record.

Think someone else had the same problem with them, not knowing if theyd actually insured him with mods.

I send them updates everytime I apply mods and the send out a renewed certificate, but doesnt list the mods. They are on record thou.
