Engine ECU On Dash

Washed the car today, Topped up screen wash and checked coolant / oil and then drove the car 200 yards, jumped out and left it running for 20mins and jumped back in to find the orange ECU light on the dash.

I phoned my mate who has a code reader but he was away up north so i then drove down to my brothers as he has an RS Tuner.

Drove all the way to his and then this fault came up below, We tried to erase it but it would not go as he had to connect his RS Tuner by Forcing it to connect with OBD.

Now whats worrying me is no less than 8 months ago i had this same problem and i changed my lambda probe (before CAT) with a genuine bosch one from my local motor factors.
Could the probe be screwed already ??

I'd check the wiring and connectors to the H02 sensor for signs of water ingress/melting on the exhaust

Where would i find this ?
Are you talking about about the 3/4 pin part at the end of the lambda that plugs into the loom ?

As said Marc, and as above - check all the wires going into the plug are good and if you can trace the wire round and check the other end!

There is nothing i can do till next weekend as its after 6pm i get home and its pitch black. I will need to jack the car up and have a look unless i get a hold of blackie (My Mate @ Renault)

Cant see how it is the wiring but i will have a check and give it a good clean and a spray with electrical connector spray

i'm going to bet £1 you have a duff CTS and or thermostat causing it to overfuel = light on dash

seen it loads of times, people replace the lambda when its not the cause of the problem, CTS doesn't always show up as broken on diagnostic and neither does a knackered thermostat obviously

Are coolant temp sensors easy to do ?
Im still getting good heating and the car is running at a good temp so not sure about the thermostat.

Where is the CTS about ?? Anyone got any pictures ??

side of the head under the throttle body, you need a 21mm spanner

just replace both as your thermostat will be 5+ years old now

Hmmm this sounds alittle complicated for me. I would rather do a full coolant flush and get someone to change it.
I cant find a CTS online but i have found the thermostat

Is ths correct for my car ?

buy a genuine thermostat as you have to moddify the housing slightly to fit a non genuine (easy peasy) but i know what you're like!

Renault type D coolant is cheap anyway

reset the light and see what happens first though

I have 15L of genuine coolant.
I will call renault tomorrow and buy a CTS and change that myself and then try resetting the light.

If the light is still on i will then get a thermostat and lambda probe and change they 2 and take it from there.

Fred you are going to have one bloody mission when you get my car as i want all this stuff changed again ;-)

Bought the coolant temp sensor and i will get it fitted over the weekend at some point.
Had a look tonight and it looks easy enough and looks every easier if i take the intake pipe off.

Will it cause any harm driving my car at the moment the way it is ?
