Engine type/code details

hey ive recently bought a clio 182 which i took into a dealer to get a windscreen wiper problem sorted... anywho... they told me it wasnt covered by warranty, as it was imported from somewhere other than france or something... they gave me the details returned by renault from entering the VIN number... and just wondering if people could verify the correct engine code/gearbox code, etc etc just so i can check its all the right stuff...

is the 182 engine the F4R engine type?

any help is much appreciated :D

Phone Renault UK with your vin number . They will tell you where the car originated from and what warranty you have also what AA assistance you have .

Imports from Cyrpus or Holland only have a 1 year warranty on them .Everywhere else " should " have a 3 year warranty and AA assistance .

yeh i went to a renault dealership which is where they put in my VIN number, but it didnt come back with a country of which it was imported :-S i mean its all ok, coz the garage ive got the car from is going to be paying for the warranty for nothing now (as they messed up!) until the "normal warranty" wouldve expired in May next year.

but was just concerned about whether it had the correct engine, and gearbox in it, etc... u can never be too causious i guess haha, i know its got the 2.0 16v engine in it, as i'd be a fool if i couldnt tell from driving/looking, but just worried incase it has the 172 engine in it.

Its the same engine in the 172 and 182 . If you phone Renault UK they will give you exact details of where the car was from and what the warranty will cover . Never trust what a dealer tells you as some are tossers and very unhelpful .

did the garage you bought it from not tell you it was an import??

imports are generally worth less when you come to sell them.

kool, ok m8 will give them a buzz and find out. thanks for the advice :D

Guy- yeh i think imported cars are usually worth a lil less, depends on warranty basis, i gues? the garage knocked off £500... which i guess is pretty generous?

just got off the phone to Renault (UK) and theyve told me it was bought from the France factory instead of from Renault (UK) which means its all UK spec... but was just sold with the 2-year French warranty as opposed to the UK warranty... so im guessing this means everything else to do with the car will be above-board, etc which is what i was concerned about.
