extracting power from f4r

Sideways in the snow in a Wentworth is where it's at!

Chip : I think somebody on here sounds a bit like Bent Rims 328 on a T4;)

Yeah, that's why I was wondering... I don't know of any (many?) folks running Shcricks on a stock ECU. Definitely makes for a lumpy idle I would have thought!

Hai! Schrick cams on a TDF mapped standard ecu. Idle is fine. Not too lumpy. Works perfect from cold.

Mine has schrick cams and ran fine on standard ecu, its been mapped now but I had no issues without the map, just a bit lumpy

Yeah, fair enough mate - just didn't realise you could really make the most out of the Schrick's on a stock ECU with remap and without a lumpy idle. :D

not 100% yet mate, its getting RR on Friday afternoon so ill post it on here. Im guessing between 180 - 190. Dont really want to chase figures tho, it goes well so that's all im bothered about

That's what matters the most really isn't it. How the thing drives. Post up what it makes though :)

Im convinced that many people on here debating about a couple of bhp increase here and there should sell their clios and buy a wrx... Of course its your own choice to spend money on your car to chase power but if you dont like a stock(ish) clio you probably wont love a highly modified one - especially when you start to regret all money you spent...
just my 2 cents
ps if your clio is a dedicated track car and you are a rich b*****d then obviously this doesnt apply :)

turbo's are naff though compared to NA though eh Tone!

We are trying to compare night and day here surely.

I've no problem with turbo's on a raod car.

But I am old school, and n/a is for me in a comp car, power delivery etc etc.

Exactly my thoughts, I have my turbo for road and n/a for track. I'm old skool for my young years where I would rather have a BDA mk2 or a 6r4 before I would have a group N or A evopreza.

Hopefully very soon and then everyone will agree that turbo power is for men and na is for little boys. :p

Sometime this year my boy, sub 60 second's is where you'll have to be....hopefully :quiet:

Off course, my cars there were priced accordingly against each other, going into proper group B car £'s then it would have to be a short wheelbase quatro or delta integrale, the ford would be a close 3rd in turbos.

Even at that money, I'd probably just buy two mk2 escorts, one with millingon duratec, sequential box, 17" wheels etc etc and a proper old skool BDA'd one, got to be one of the best engines I have heard coming through a forest.

You dont think the metro 6r4 you mentioned is a group b car? :S And you think a BDA mk2 escort is similar cost to a group N imprezza?

Tell you what, you get just one BDA mk2, and I will swap it with you for 2 group N imprezzas even though they are worth the same, I dont mind, FLOL

I'll swap you just one 20 pound note for two 50p pieces as well if you like.

I know a 6r4 is a group B car but there was de tuned versions made after they were banned so they could continue to rally and that is why you still see a lot of 6r4's in comparison to "proper" group B cars (quatro's/stratos/integrale's/rs200) and that reflects in the price for them today. Obviously if you have a factory original full fat 6r4 then it's ££'s.

I know the cost of a BDA engine, sometimes 50k iirc for the engine alone (if you can get one)then there is the car on top, you can get complete used BDA'd car for around 50-60k leaving me 20k to by my super modified mk2 when a Group N and A cars are 75k from the likes of pro drive.

For what its worth I'd sooner have a BDA Mk2 escort than just about any other car by the way.
That or an original 60s Cooper S are my idea of automotive perfection.

But I wouldnt pick one if I was trying to go fast compared to a group B car for similar money!

So I dont think its as good if speed was all that mattered, but I do prefer it personally.

That's exactly where I'll be when the car is sorted. 63secs before with 170hp so fingers crossed. :race:

Should be easily achievable when you consider the minis are doing 63's with 130 ponies. Did you get a rough lap time in your current spec 230bhp????? car?

No you don't buy them to be competitive, you buy one cause you want to. There's a guy at KH that runs his reportedly £120k BDA in smrc classics and its the business, always in battles with Morgan aero 8's of all cars and he gives it punishment, some thing to see.

Nice.

You seen Nick Staggs mk1?

Was keeping pace with a 500bhp Scooby round Pembrey when my mrs was doing a trackday there in our old mk1 clio, just to prove you and Fred's point again me for you, lol
(difference in weight being the reason BTW)

Its a BD on slides and sounded like it was using about 9Krpm or so, totally epic, should think 100K would only get you about halfway to owning it though, lol

foookin hell, i have never heard of these schricks before ....... but that is a quick clio lol and its bein driven like its stolen haha

You've not met Andrew have you? I still remember it being in the passenger seat when he blew it up.

What ever happened to that car Fred?

  172, Tiguan
It ended up about that iirc. I can't remember whether thats the 2004 Spa trip we all did and if the car was in that tune then. We went back a few years later when it was on racecar suspension - that video could've been then.

I can believe that, marshals mk2 can lap in high 58's, now compare that to Renshaws evo and it gives you an idea around KH.
Its nice but it's missing the mexico decals ;)

The noise is what there all about, reminds me of a v-tec how they rev on but the difference is they don't sound like a fart in a bean tin.
