Failed MOT

  1.6 16v without an engine
im not happy...
they failed me car because the handbrake is too tight, my brake pedal doesnt have a pad on it(anti slip device:S )... and theyre saying my offset rear brake is recording very low or no response....

i agree with the brakes not working properly but to fail me cos i have no pad on the pedal is a bit over the top dont ya think....???

f**king nitpickers...

*rant over*

Not not really. Its there to ensure that cars are roadworthy and dont kill people.

how does my handbrake being too tight end up killing someone...???
same with no pad... ph-quick's come with metal pedals as standard... whats the difference really???

metal pedals have them raised bits on them.

if its smooth, it needs a pad..
even if it does have rased bits on them... theyre still metal at the end of the day and if ur braking with wet feet, ur still gunna slip no matter ?

Sounds well strict as I got through my MOT, even though I never had a rubber pad on my brake pedal and a reverse bulb not workin lol.

to be fair about the pad anyway it is on the list of things to check for an MOT so they can't really do anything but fail you for it. I agree it can seem a bit harsh but at the end of the day it is on the list of things to check and you could easily have sorted it before the MOT to avoid failing on that.

No they're like a cheese graiter in a way, better than the rubber I think.

To be fair the MOT is a basic check of most things on the car, if it can't pass it... One day its missing a rubber grip, next day its pads metal to metal, next day its a knackered ball joint.

well i woulda sorted it if i knew that it woulda failed cos of an absent pedal pad...

What the MOT proves is the car is roadworthy....that day!

Whos to say that 6 months down the line something needs changing and its gets neglected, not every car can be checked regulary by the police so a car passing a MOT on 'x' day could be a accident on a different day.

the average car does'nt see a workshop unless it breaks down other than at MOT time. and it is the testers responsibily to ensure that when it is presented for test all testable items are in an acceptable condition.
if your foot slipped off the brake pedal because it was wet & the pedal had no anti slip device fitted you could have an accident
