FAO you clever RS specialists - 250 head on a 172 block?

Car  Clio 16v 'YOJ'
So today after having my ass handed to me by an audi s5 I came to the conclusion more power is needed!!!!

Im interested in putting a meggy 250 head on a 172 block what I want to know is will it fit like the 225 head does?

Cheers!

Craig

If you're wanting boost vvt is not the be all anyway.

225 head is not a straight bolt on either.

Problem with the 197 head Dan is that the plenum sits higher so wont go under a mk1 bonnet, the 172 plenum only just fits.

Sorry i should of been clearer from the start.

Its a mk1 with 172 engine looking to turbo charge and I know its possible to do in a mk1 with a 225 head but I was hoping to use a 250 head because of the vvt.

Now im using a 172 rad and clearence is an issue between the engine and the rad, Whatever I use as an inlet plenum cant exceed teh fuel rail guard and so I was considering the 250 inlet and head as that would physically fit in the bay - I just need to know if it will bolt onto the 172 block and all the oil/water passages etc line up like the 225 head does.

Or should I sack it all off and go for a 20vt conversion possibly in a 182? (Im looking to buy one anyway in about 6 months time for the gf which I will inherit in about 18 months)

yeah? I was kinda hoping to use a diff plenum because I like the look of the 172 head without a plenum LOL :o

Make a new inlet manifold like I'm doing then. Far easier than trying to get some other head to fit and can be made to a better design too.

Just fit an Audi or Honda engine. You get a decent box then.

Yeah theres a guy on c16v with a 20vt conversion and has pics of the mounts on there so probably go that way in future.

that said a b18 would br novelty especially if the mini has 1 aswell

Audi lump is a good option as it fits a lot easier.
Honda is much more work.
I picked it for the extra revs though.
