Few Exhaust Questions 172/182

  Clio 1.8
Im purchasing a 172 soon i want to replicate the 182 exhaust system to it, but basically can you just put a 182 exhaust system straight on a 172? (apart from bumber modification) ?

If not is there is any parts of the 182 exhaust system that will fit onto 172, like backbox? Im trying to find this out so i can find what exhaust i can buy, im aiming for as little silencers as possible with a nice straight through flow.

I am not too fussed about that, is it a big job? If its cut out does it mean i can put a whole 182 exhaust system on? (And can it be replaced incase of a sale?)

yeh you basically have to cut out the well section of the rear floor, and fit the new system. but way too much effort for just the exhaust. much better options out there.

That exhaust system looks great shadowness, has anyone on here used it? Would it be possible to remove the backbox and if so will this lower backpressure?

I'm not aware of any 172s that have had that mod, but I'm probably wrong.

I would guess it's not very reversible, so it's something you would have to fully commit to.

the whole 182 system is different to the 172 system. this is part of what gives it the extra ponies. the manifold is a 4-2-1 whereas the 172 is a 4-1, the cat on a 172 goes up over the sub frame to meet the manifold whereas the 182`s cat is just strait. im pretty sure the middl section is different too although im not sure and obviously the rear section isnt the same neither.

Sounds like too much of a project to undertake for the look if i can buy a replica exhaust. Would it be better to have a silencer in the middle section rather than in the backbox to reduce back pressure?

Can you buy the 4-2-1 manifolds for the 172 though? like supersprint?

why do want to do it? performance or looks? if its performance just get a yozza race system or something like that. give you the best bang for your money. change the mani to a 182 and fit a link / decat and job done.

To be honest im going for looks and performance, ive always been interested in custom exhausts rather than doing what majority choose to do.

So i can fit a 182 manifold and then link it to the 172 decat using a fabricated peice?

Im trying to keep as less pressure as possible at rear of exhaust system. There are alot of systems where the backbox has no silencer and just pipes coming straight out from all the way from decat

Damn thats expensive lol is ther any other company that does it cheaper? But its a good modification to gain bhp+

The Yozza one does look good in all honesty im looking for twin exhaust and the ktec seems to be the only one , should still see good gains from 182 backbox, de cat & 182 manifold?

Presume your looking at an early 172 then, since i was looking at late 172's when i got mine and insurance was the same.
