u saying a gp bike does 180 in 19.4 seconds?? u must be crazy man... a standard gsxr 100 does 0-186(v-max) in way less than that...Quote: Originally posted by ian 172 on 16 November 2004

The official outputs are:::
)-60 in 2.3

0-180 in 9.4 secs(which is 10 secs quicker than any bike)

The whole test was geared up for F1 lovers if you ask me....??
How? it was a straight line run where bike are supposed to have the advantage.
Infact power to weight the GP bike is better than the F1 car.
and then add the rider
btw, on the track you mention the GP bikes where going faster than the F1 cars on the straights, which is what we were saying...
Did I??

More rubber and traction control make F1 car easier to start from a standin start
Infact power to weight the GP bike is better than the F1 car.
and then add the rider
And add the huge drag from all those F1 wings

Well someone did, anyway the GP bikes where faster on the straight, we all know that with Downforce F1 cars are much faster on bends
Thanks jonc,Maybe ken 182 can research this himself and see that bikes dont get near cars on a trackQuote: Originally posted by JonC on 16 November 2004

Stats on Catalugnya
Shumachers fastest lap was 1:17.450 with an average speed of 215.070km/h
Rossis fastest lap was 1:44.641 with an average speed of 160.949km/h.
Someone else did the research.

The GP bikes are probably slower. Who cares. MotoGP has the kind of racing F1 can only dream of..... Competetive and exciting!!
For the record, I reckon given a bit of practice (he got close to Schueys lap record on his first couple of laps in an F1 car btw) Valentino Rossi could be a top F1 Driver. He has more skill in his right wrist tham most F1 drivers have in there whole body. IMHO!

Yep GP bikes are slower on corners, but would hate to see Rossi move to F1, hes far more fun in MotoGP.... although MS and Rossi both a Ferraris might be exciting, just what F1 needs..lol
Simon.
Im not debating overall laptimes arent quicker in f1 but a gp bike CAN match a f1 car in acceleration..Quote: Originally posted by ian 172 on 17 November 2004

REALLY being part of the machine and enjoying the road.. and its about how it makes you feel,
I feel the same about my V6 255...
I rode bikes for a number of years (12), but also lost two good mates to bike accidents and because I now have two children I dont have bikes.
Bikes are awesome, bikes are fun but bikes are also the biggest killer of there owners than any other form of transport.
I keep my bike joys now down to watching MotoGP, BSBK and WSBK
