Original gets my vote 😂👍

Hi @Darren61,

Is there any guide on the correct location for the original badges on the back of a Clio??

Those look in the right location, but wondering what you used for reference?? Got a set to go back onto my Clio RB and want to try to get them back in the original locations correctly??

Beautiful work on the car by the way! (y) (y)

Cheers mate, it’s coming along nicely!

Being totally honest, I just fixed the badge on by eye, looking at pictures on here of where it was applied from the factory.

So I’ve either got a very good eye or just got lucky 😂 I remember taking my time with it though..

😂😂 I was searching for an exhaust place today and was watching videos of cars leaving one and the golf R flatulence on gear change is cringe inducing.
AMG and Audi too, they’re all at it.
It sounds absolutely s**t. Proper upshifts bangs created using a load cell and ignition cut is different gravy.
This oem engineered in crap they think we want is awful. ☹️.

I’m 37 this year and have absolutely no intentions of growing up... ever 😂
I’ll always own a modified car, I always have. In fact I think I’ve modified everything I own in one way or other. 😂

Just read the last couple of pages of this thread. I am not as old as some and younger than others. I have come to the conclusion I must be "div" 🤣

My 172 Cup track car, which I use on the road goes against all the standard recommendations! Noisey exhaust, air filter, cage, etc etc. I have different badges too! My Mk2 XR2 is still pretty much as it was when I was 16 and it was my first car(although the underneath is much cleaner now after its restoration). Do I care what anyone else thinks.....do I f**k!!!! Do whatever makes you happy and smile. Appreciate what others like. That is why we are all different. Otherwise the world would be a pretty boring place I reckon.

Chill chaps, was only having a bit of fun and you have the right attitude.

sorry for derailing Frayz!

My mate’s prob think I’m crazy driving around in an old clio and I don’t care either. I love my classic impreza too and I reckon only recently people are coming back round to them, I’ve had them for years all the time they were ‘chav’ and like you all say couldn’t care less I’ve had years of enjoyment and modern stuff doesn’t give me a tenth the enjoyment. I even took my V6 sti to a car collector friend (mainly Ferrari) and he always scoffed really or just brushed over it... took him out and he absolutely loved it to the point he was straight online looking when we got back.

So, suffering with a good number of the Corvid19 symptoms I’m feeling pretty useless.
However even when Ill I find myself suffering cabin fever and with a squillion jobs to do, decided to tinker with the car.
Can’t do much on the Clio till then hubs come back, but have a job on the Cayman I’ve been putting off for ages.

The Cayman wears a full titanium exhaust from Remus coupled to Fabspeeds race headers. Now I’m not too sure what kind of “stainless steel” our friends over at Fabspeed use, but it’s the usual s**t American quality and I could get a magnet to loosely stick to it. Subsequently the 3 fasteners holding the headers to the rest of the system resembled 3 Twiglets as opposed to any meaningful hardware.

At some point in their not too distant life I’m sure they would fail, so I decided to take preventive action and change them all now. Didn’t even bother putting a spanner near them, just went direct for the mini disc cutter.
Scalloped each nut out and tapped them off with a chisel. Dropped the system which is thankfully stupidly lightweight so I could properly clean the flanges.

I’ll attempt to clean up the system before refitting it with all new titanium hardware and genuine gaskets. Made a start on the tips. The rest of the system will probably want glass blasting.

System stripped, cleaned, refitted and realigned. All new titanium hardware includuding aerospace K nuts. Also fitted new all stainless Mikalor W4s clamps in place of the old Normas.
This should mean I’ll never have any kind of corrosion or fatigue concerns on the exhaust hardware again.

Tempted to swap out the 18x header fasteners for titanium studs too, as these are a known issue to break upon removal. However I fear that’s a can of worms to think about another day.

All fitted and tucked up tight.

Loving this social distancing, apart from feeling like death. Cabin fever has me doing little jobs on WZD that I’ve just not had a moment to do.

New genuine grille badge, amazing how much difference this has made as mine has a fine rash over it from 125k miles of enjoyment.

Lastly may result in the death of a few purists.
Removing a perfectly good genuine cup splitter to make way for a Fabia item.
Basically once the ASTs go on, the splitter will be even more vulnerable and at £250 for a genuine one, I think I’ll sandbag that in the garage for a £15 Skoda item.

So, next little job was refreshing the tailgate emblems. I’d already replaced these about 7 years, but after 15 years the chrome badges were looking tired again.

I had deliberated at length over if I should fit the cleaner and more modern Renault Sport from the 197 cars. Or do I stay period correct with the original badges?
So much was this quandary I decided to buy both sets of emblems from Renault.

I haven’t polished the car since owning it as is just not had time. But with new emblems going on, the tailgate at least was a must.
So a quick soap, rinse, Iron X, and de tar. 2 quick passes with some Sonax on the rotary, an IPA wipe down and the tailgate was good to go.

I then spent probably another 2 hours blue tacking the emblems to the boot trying to decide what to do. Lol.
In the end I did opt for the newer emblems more compact, cleaner look as I fancied the change. I’m still on the fence about it just now, but I at least have the others if/when I change my mind.

Just need to get time to polish the rest if the old nail now.
