Not noticeable really from the drivers seat but I’m competing so would favour them since I have both anyway. For the money new I would go with TDs again. Plus I actually think they look better.

I only ended up with the Oz wheels cos they came up 2nd hand on eBay for £500 with good r888 tyres.

Pick with the oz wheels.

Thanks David, appreciate you taking the time to drop me some pics. Of the 2 i prefer the OZs both from a quailty of finish and they fact they're maybe a little less common than the TDs. I already own the most common wheel ever fitted to a Clio in the Turinis so would prefer something a little less seen maybe. lol.
I think The TD is a great looking wheel afetr all, its a classic multispoke design, but as siad previously, if im buying brand new rims based mainly on their weight>cosmetics then i cant overlook the TDs are over 2kg heavier.

I was just wondering about that after looking for bronze on Petrol Blue!

You'd need some other gold accents to pull it off though, or is the metallic flake gold as well in inferno? (never seen the colour in real life!)

Loads of gold in it. Having said that, I never had a single other gold thing on my impreza and that wore gold wheels just fine.

I'd say gold would work then, bold but would really make it stand out.

Different for imprezas maybe because people are used to them having gold rims? Gold goes well with black and blue anyway I'd say.

I agree, especially the EVOs, however both are NLA. Desmond are taking pre orders for re-edition EVOs but they’re way out of sensible budget really.
Spoon SW388s are still available over here and cheaper than the EVOs but still frighteningly expensive, and I’ve gotta draw a line somewhere lol.

Id love to try a set out though just for fun. 😅

Ive not yet weighed them but the Turinis are noticeably lighter.
But in addition they have lighter tyres too.
I’m sure people have done it but I’ll weigh one when I get them back to see. 🙂

You’re going 15’s for that reason (or certainly a big part) so why compromise? just get the lightest ones. Any ‘nicer’ style will be negated by the sad roller skate look of the car

The plastic/polycarbonate ones only have a working temp of up to about 140C. Much above that and they start to melt. As this is a track car, hub temps can get above that quite easily, hence alloy spigot rings needed.

An issue with the sourced rims has meant im back to the drawing board. Apologies 🙈

More than anything this is just for fun and may be of interest to anyone doing similar:

So im still digging for wheels which are both lighter than the 2118s (not hard) and that i actually like the look of. I've tried really hard and still am to get a sensible price for a set of forged JDM wheels such as a Volk TE37/CE28N, SSR Type C or Regamaster EVOs. Alas they're all stupidly rare, difficult to source used and either not made anymore or if they are they're knocking on £2500/£3000 a set landed. I'm mad but even i cant justify that money on a set of 15s lol
Pretty much ruled out Ultraleggeras too as im just not a fan of how they look. Cheap wheel and lightweight though.

And im down to 2 real options... i think. The Enkei RPF1 and the ATS DTC.

So I’ve done the following sums based on an example Nankang AR1 tyre which is likely to be the heaviest tyre I would ever fit. those that dont know, It’s a road legal cut slick much like an Toyo R888. And thrown in some prices too just to provide some contrast on why many opt for a 15" over a 16" wheel/tyre.

Wheels (Weights provided by manufacturer)

• ATS DTC 15x7 5.7kg £190 per rim, £760 a set
• Enkei RPF1 15x7 4.5kg £260 per rim , £1040 a set
• Enkei RPF1 16x7 4.5kg £286 per rim , £1144 a set

AR1 (Weights provided by manufacturer)

• 15” tyre 8.7kg Approx £100
• 16” tyre 9.2kg Approx £150

Wheel and tyre assembled as follows.

• 15” DTC 14.4kg
• 15” RPF1 13.2kg
• 16" DTC unavailable
• 16” RPF1 15.4kg

For contrast, a 2118 at 9.6kg with an 8.7kg tyre is 18.3kg.

So based on a set of 4

• 2118s a set of 4 = 73.2kg!!
• A set of 15” RPF1s = 52.8kg a 20.4kg weight loss
• A set of 15” DTCs = 57.6kg a 15.6kg weight loss
• A set of 16” RPF1s = 61.6kg a 11.6kg weight loss

So DTCs allow 15.6kg and RPF1s allow 20.4kg of rotating mass and unsprung weight to be dumped.



Knocked up a little table below with some other popular wheels just for fun.
Prices are approx at time of print, i dare say there are some deals to be had. All weights are manufacturer claimed.

RPF1s i think i prefer in a 16" visually, but maybe doesnt make sense from a cost perspective. Alternatively the DTC is pretty but a good chunk heavier. All be it they will still be significantly lighter than the 2118s fitted.
