Thats f*****g terrible. Wish I could help, but Im guessing whatever you use, even the release agent, its going to leave a very nasty mark on the paintwork.

try some good ol white spirit first, ive found it to shift most stuff, and leave the paint unmarked.

If the wing is metal and not plasic as the 172s are, perhaps you could try heating the area up with a hairdryer so that the metal will expand and perhaps the glue will lift away.

Just thought of something else!

Try the brilliant WD40 which has hundreds of uses, one of which is that it DISSOLVES GLUE!

CLEANS: WD-40 gets under dirt, marks and grease making it easy to wipe away. It also dissolves adhesives, allowing easy removal of labels, tape, and stickers.
DISPLACES MOISTURE: Because WD-40 displaces moisture, it quickly dries out electrical systems to eliminate moisture-induced short circuits. Turn the power off before you spray
PENETRATES: WD-40 loosens rust-to-metal bonds and frees stuck, frozen or rusted metal parts.
LUBRICATES: WD-40s lubricating ingredients are widely dispersed and hold firmly to all moving parts.
PROTECTS: WD-40 protects metal surfaces with corrosion-resistant ingredients to shield against moisture and other corrosive elements.

If its a plastic wing then Id probably say its new wing time as the glue could well have melted the wing :( Hope you get it sorted, thats not a nice thing to happen.
