Front brake caliper bolts?!

Went to change my front disks & pads last weekend but my 17mm spanner didnt fit my caliper bolts, I didnt have an 18 handy so had to put everything back together, bit confused as im sure they should be 17mm from looking at guides on here, anyone else had this?

ye i remember something a bit wierd when i did mine, in the end i think the 17mm spazza needed a bit of persuading or i.....no wait! i think i bought an 18mm and that worked fine. its almost like the fucker was 17.5mm

There is defo no way a 17 would fit on mine I have an 18 now though so should be fine, just thought it was kinda wierd!

I thought they were that silly imperial size which was inbetween 17-18mm 4/15ths or whatever. But then on my passenger side 18mm it was... drivers was more like 17.5mm. f**king Renault

Do I need to replace the shims? I dont have any, just disks and pads. I can change suspension but cant do the more simple things lol

NA get rid of the shims. not needed from memory
