Front speakers

Im looking to replace the standard 5 1/4" front speakers in my clio (98). Ive got £75 give or take to spend, I am prepared to modify the panel to cope with 6 1/2" speakers if this is necessary. Can anyone help me out with recommendations or stuff that i should stay away from? Cheers

Most of the headunits seem ok, my mate has 1 and its quite good, just the speaker gear seems to be a bit naff

Ive had 2 sony head units, one mid-priced and one one at the high end, and personally find them really good. Strongly recomend them, but the speakers are poor, look good, but dont sound very good. Recommend pioneers coaxials up front if ur not going for components, which for £75 is probably the best option. Check out http://www.lowcostcaraudio.co.ukwww.lowcostcaraudio.co.uk got plenty of them and cheap as.

Yeah there good. Forgot they had those so cheap. Would be a much better sound than coaxials. But a bit harder to install. have to mount tweeters on dash and put cross over somewhere, but isnt very hard. But obviously your head unit will only be pushing out 27 watts rms and there running at 60 watt rms, so the sound will be ok, but amping it is the way to go. more money!! as with all things.

Ok kool i think ill go for those. Im sure i can work some magic with the tweeters. Until i get an amp shall i jst connect the new speakers upto the wires already there yes?

yeah go for that. will be a mission to change the cable as your have to take it out from behind the dash. So would only consider doing that when you get an amp, as your be pushing more power down the cable then, so will need the better cable. Good luck mate

Lol, thanks for ur help anyway, i still gotta enlarge the mounts yet. I expect its harder than its sounds like everythin else. Cheers
