Gaz 182 cup coilies?

  182
Are the gaz 182 cup coilies that k-tec sell for 520 as bad as everyone says? Not using my car on the track, basically just to lower the car and better handling.
Getting ast on my clio 172 track car but dont want to spend the same money on the daily if i dont have too.
cheers

Sounds like you are the perfect guinea pig to finally settle the are Gaz crap saga :D

Ive had the GHA kit on my car for a year and i reckon there are spot on!!

Read the reviews, ignored the reviews and never looked back. After removing the extra bit of metal that hangs off the bumper mount i dont get wheel rub unless i reallly push it round a really tight 90 degree ish bend.

I say go for it, will be interesting to see what you think they are like in comparison to the AST !!

softer springs with the same damping? i'd have to experiment with spring rates really first

well yeah but mine are setup to be used with the harder springs.
Had a long chat with curtis the other day about all the spring rate stuff and he really thinks id be mad to change it to a softer spring. He did a setup for a lad on here with 400lb front and 450 rear instead of the other way round and didnt think in his opinion that it felt as good. Just waiting for him to revalve the rears to give them loads more rebound and hes confident that it will vastly improve the stiffer spring setup. Also going to dial loads more castor.
We shall see.

as i've said before, rear is sound, don't change a thing

fronts on all the ones i've driven are way too hard

tell Curtis to go drive a cup racer and he'll get the idea!

Obviously there never going to be anywhere near the standard of the AST coilies, and quite clearly as the price states.
Im guessing AST were designed for motorsport, hence the stiffness of them, im happy with them, driven cars with harder suspension.
Im just trying to find out wether the gaz would be decent enough for a daily driver and occasional thrash?
1500 is a bit steep to spend on coilies for a daily hack, would you agree?
cheers:S

I kind of agree but it depends how long u want them to last and if u want a hurrendously crashy ride, which is what u dont get with decent coilovers cos the money is spent on quality internals and time is spent get the damping set correctly. If uve not got 1500 to spend then thats fine :)

you'd be surprised!
Its not comparable to a cup racer tho as weve established due to the completely different setup on a racer eg:- longer lower arms etc etc. I just cant stand a car that rolls all over the place. Feels awful.

Back on Topic I've had the GAZ Coiolovers on for 18 Months and unless I go on really really $hit roads I have no issues with them.... Much nicer than some cars I've been in running all sorts of Price Range Suspension
