Probably trying to make it look like an R33 Le Mans.

The vents are Nismo N1 vents to get more air at the intercooler. The whole car was designed with Function > Form.

Ah Fair enough, at least they have a purpose..

Those of you who know me, will know I'm having issues with an intermittent fault. Got a consult cable through today, and after about 4 hours of finding a program that would work on my mac through parallels, then making the computer talk to the ECU, I got this...

Could do with borrowing 2 working MAFs now, see if it fixes anything.

TBH, I'd sooner f**k 'em off than retrofit to a set that are just as old, but that requires an Apexi PFC D-Jetro, mapping etc. Plus it makes the consult cable redundant lol.

Other option is one of the Infinitis, maybe the Q45, seems a popular choice for newer MAFs. Or Nismos, or second hand standards.

Cheers lads.

The plan today was simple, take the MAFs off, see how clean they are, take lids off and see if the circuit board solder had dried out, attempt to resolder. I kind of made everything worse. Due to the design of the ARC induction box, one MAF isn't accessible without ripping lots of stuff out of it. So, I decided to unbolt the box instead, loosen the hose clamp right off, unclip it, and it should slide out.

How wrong was I? Well, I took the ARC to the face, and left the MAF behind in the hose...

Looks like I need at least 1 MAF now, and no doubt I'll kill the other one trying to resolder it, such is my lack of talent in that department. All I can do is laugh.

Company you bought it from help you out mate? Tell you best way forward etc?

Oh and did I hear you're changing the wheels?

They offered to have it back up there and look at it, but it's 2 hours to Newcastle on a good run, yet alone limping it there. Jurgen said they have 2 MAFs.

Out of curiosity I rang Nissan up for a price, £950 for the 2 and a 3 week wait. My discount brought it to about £850, but sod that!

Eventually, got bigger things to worry about than getting the Regas on. I've had them welded up, need to refurbish them now.

Nice 32, hope you get it sorted.

If your struggling to sort the MAFs, fit a LINK and go MAP sensor.

Aye, because I've got £1000s to chuck at new management & mapping! I've got an update to do TBH, but it's pretty irrelevant as it's sat waiting on 2 Lambda Sensors that should have been here on Monday.

After my PM's regarding the RX-7 I am now looking at these, partly your fault! :p

Hope you get your issues sorted mate, can't wait for more photo's and progress on it.

Saw some dude properly on it at the wishing well roundabout the other day in something like this. I couldn't say it was the same as yours but was DEFINATELY a skyline. He must've been tickling three figures in the 40 zone.

I often wonder where they are still finding these to import, it must have been in a warehouse for ages or similar.

SHE'S BACK! **Touch Wood**

So after a farcical 2 and a bit weeks, it seems I've got it running right again. After smashing the MAF, I bit the bullet and bought 2 used ones. Tested them with no load on the engine through the Consult software & all seemed fine.

Then I noticed one of the O2 sensors was reading 0 Volts. So set about finding 2 new sensors. What a ballache that was, nowhere in the UK had stock of them. Found some in the USA, but they emailed back saying they only had the rear (the front has a different plug.) Found out they were the same sensor, so just got 2 rears. Then waited almost 1 and a half weeks for them thanks to our joke of a customs/postal service.

In the mean time, I'd had the ARC box out to do the MAFs, so I decided to ditch the carbon canister...

And ran the fuel tank vent down to the front arch...

Far better. Rebuilt the MAFs/ARC (along with new front filter in the ARC), then set about removing the old O2 sensors. Now, must are an M18 thread (22mm socket). Not these, they're M12. So I manufactured a lambda socket out of a 17mm deep hex. It needed deepening after this photo as it damaged wiring, but that only mattered for the new ones...

Then yesterday the replacements arrived, and I tried to solder the old front sensor's plug to the new rear sensor replacing it...

Only then I discovered solder doesn't stick as it's high temp wire! So today I've had to go buy a crimping tool & crimps. Wired it all up, fitted both sensors, and now it seems fine!

Hopefully now I can stop worrying about niggles and get round to a bit of modernising & making it my own. Not that I've got the time to ATM with covering people at work on holidays.

Is there any benefit of ditching the carbon canister?

More Space. Less Weight. It's ugly. It's only for emissions.

Seems to be fine under load Marco, had it full bore in 1st - 4th, had it cruising in all gears (which is where it was spluttering). Felt better on the cold map too, but then it is a stinking hot day.
