so my mrs passed her test yesterday, was going to insure the dci for her so she could drive that but thought id try the 172 and see what quote came back.

ive still got 9 months of a 10 month policy left with admiral so gave them a call.

my mrs is....
18yrs old, passed test yesterday.

how much extra to insure a clio 172 as a named driver fully comp.... £100!

i paid £2500 3rd party at that age on the car!!!

When I first past I tried my details if I was a female, cheapest I could get was £1400 if I was female it would have been £750.

It's mental!

That is a joke! Whether its cheap or not I wouldn't let a new driver anywhere near my 172. Tell her it was £10,000 and let her forget about it.

its hardly a fighter jet lol

Sorry, meant my 172 lol I love it too much to put it at risks of potential noob bumps and knocks.

Still, I know its not going to hit warp speeds but considering the damage you could do in a 1.2, a 172 wouldn't help at all.

This can't be a serious thread....

Everybody already knows the answer....

A boys car is a steed, it needs to be slick & quick, soon as you have a full licence you consider yourself to be a road warrior capable of taking on any road, any conditions, with equal abandon....Its not a Clio or Corsa when your behind the wheel, its magically transformed into an inter-galactic missile capable of insane speeds and untold handling....

Now a girls car is very different, its her best friend, they pootle around quite merrily together window shopping etc etc....

So to recap, if boys didn't consider their cars to be penis extentions, then quotes would possibly drop....

lol, have a word with yourself. Perhaps that was the case 10+ years ago but tbh now I see just pretty much the same level of macho driving from women. Also you need take into consideration those that do pootle about rather than being aggressive/fast. Most are normally more concerned with their make up, singing along to the radio or turning to face their mate while they have an indepth conversation with their passenger. So there's no reason why women should pay so much less than men.

Its because when a lad crashes, they usually do it properly. Where as girls have little bumps parking and the likes which cost little to repair etc.

I pay just under a grand on my 1.2 16v and i had been driving on a full license for a year when i got this policy but had only been a named driver so had no no claims!!

It's not that surprising - I live on a long residential street and last weekend while I was washing my car, 9/10 that someone was driving down it at warp speed it was a very young lad. They pay more cos they crash them more!

My GF only pays £500 fully comp for her 172 LOL.... She is 21 with 3yr NCB, that is with Admiral IIRC!?

I am 21 with 3yr NCB, 1 accident, 6points (SP30)... all mods declared etc. £700 fully comp with Flux! You just have to work them down over the phone, they originally wanted £900 for me LOL

IIRC girls crash just as much as men, its only men do it properly so its costs a bit more to fix.
