GNAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

I've just dropped my Creative Zen Micro off the desk and it's now making unhealthy noises and not booting up

FFS

I haven't got the money lying around to just get a new one, plus I had all sorts on there that I'm now going to have to dig out my CD collection and burn again

Is there any decent solid state players that aren't ipods and don't cost a fortune??

Want at least 4gb, preferably 8.

Unless there's a Zen doctor in the house... :banghead: :dapprove:

dude, ive dropped my 8gb loads of times - not busted yet. Think you are just unlucky - it sounds rather terminal - did you buy insurance for it when you got it?

Have been looking on ebay - there's loads of cheap(ish) 8gb versions on ebay so I'm tempted to have a punt on there.

Seems to have decent feedback - has anyone else used them?

fastwunz - yeah, I've dropped mine loads of times too but it hit square on the edge and rather heavily. so I think it's damaged the reader arm/head thingy (technical term lol) :(

Good call :)

I'm not sure about the joystick control though on those - I do like the old touch controls on the first version of the micro, but it is HDD not flash memory so should I get the same again... ??

I've seen a conversion online though where you can swap a CF card into the shell, so I could shell out £££ and get a 16gb CF card and have a 16gb solid state mp3 player for about £170!

Joystick is easy to use, and that one is flash memory. Coming from a Nano, I prefer that one (though I have the V+ which has a tuner).

Yeah I played with one before I got mine. Brilliant, and has expandable memory. Only reason I didn't get it was it didn't have an FM tuner.
