I wouldn't do it to private buyers.

But considering he sold my dad an Audi TT for 21,000 and then 18 months later only offered him 15,000 to buy it back, I think he owes us something.

A test drive in this hopefully. I'm not expecting him to let me drive it once he sees me tbh, but you can only try can't you.

i was thinking about going to try and test drive a 197 as im honestly intrigued what they are like compared to a 172/182. Im only 18 so i dont think they would let me even though they are less to insure than my 172.

FPMSL!!

If the guy is dumb enough to let you drive it, he deserves whatevers coming to him.

Me personally, i'd tell you to f*ck off. Using those exact words.

I tried to blag a test drive in a 197 cup up at Evans Halshaw Gilesgate mate. Bloke seemed to think he was doing me a favour by driving it around to the front then letting me sit in it... Just what I was after. Would have thought they'd have bundled me into the car and forced me to drive it, what with the current economic climate. Think he clocked the 172 and figured that I might realise the 197 wasn't as good... ;)

As for getting a test in the V mate... Best of luck to ya, used to be my favourite game, seeing what I could blag a test in. Guessing you may be asked to "jog on" less than politely mind...

Whats the point, you must have funk all to do.

There are numerous cars ive had my eye on that i would be allowed to test drive but cant be arsed because id rather save my cash for now.

That Vee has been forsale a few weeks now, it's not just in.

Oh and I doubt very much that you'll be allowed to test drive it, most will insist that you're atleast 21, perhaps even 25 for that!

Good luck, I very much doubt they'll let you drive it if you look your age. As above, most places you have to be 25 to drive a car like that. I found it hard enough finding a garage who would let me test drive a Megane R26 and I'm 25! If he knows you're not serious about buying it he won't want to waste his time.

Well tbh any dealer who turns away a person in a snobby manner deserves no buisness at all! How the hell can a dealer know if someone has no money just because they are 17 ...as they say "assumptions are the mother of all f**k ups". Not saying the guy will say yes but if hes worth anything as a dealer i should hope he wouldn't be rude over it.

My mistake, I must admit I haven't looked on his website for a while.

I rang up before and asked about it and he wanted age + details before he'd even consider anyone for a test drive. In the end I just told him I was a clio 'enthusiast' riding my luck hoping to get a drive. To which he was more understanding than I thought due to the fact I was wasting his time.

In the end I got talking to him about my dad's car etc and it turns out he knows my grandad and stuff, which led him to say that because I was so interested in clios etc, I could go down this weekend and he'd let me take a 172 cup out for a little drive. Which I am in two minds whether to do or not. I ideally wanted my first drive of a 1*2 to be when it was my own car. But on the other hand I also want a taste of what most of you guys experience everyday. It's a hard choice.

I test drove an astra vxr when I was 18, and I look v.young for my age. even more so back then.

he also let me drive it flat out on the straights. obviously, approaching bends he was a bit more cautious, as was I anyways. heard so many rumours of vxrs going mental in the twisties.

I loved the car, but thought it was too much insurance and decided to pull back and not tie myself to a huge loan.
