Got a hole in the exhaust at the join between cat and centre section

my car is farting a bit where the cat joins the centre section. where the exhaust has four slits around it to aid fitting, there's gases coming from one of those. the horse-shoe style exhaust clamp a la:

has had it so needs replacing, but are these clamps actually any good? they only put pressure on two sides of the exhaust from what i can, would it be better to get a clamp similar to a jubilee clip, only bigger obviously, a la:

this sort of thing would put pressure all the way round the exhaust, not just the top and bottom.

discuss... :)

well, i bought one of those cool looking clamps but still farting a bit. should i be using any sort of paste when pushing the exhaust over the cat?

Don'y use paste, it goes hard and eventually flakes off.

Use some Silicon sealer. (Proper exhaust stuff, not from B&Q! lol)
