Grinding brakes

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
My pads have about 70% left on them, my discs are a little warped I believe and need replacing. It was a pretty hot day today and was driving in the car for 4 hours, stuck in a lot of traffic, country roads, pretty quick, harsh braking etc. Once we'd arrived at our destination (Skeggy!) I pressed brake and there was a horrible grinding noise. It seems to have stopped now but the brakes are squealing more than usual. Is it time to replace pads and discs? The grinding really worried me!

What discs are they?

My mates have groove and drilled discs on their type r's and they squeal really bad. Same as my mate with Mtec grooved ones on his clio.

Could be just a build up of dust/dirt.

I think they're just vented discs with some cheap pads (probably just to pass MOT before I bought it). The squealing isn't bothering me, its just the horrible grinding noise (sounded like metal on metal grinding!)

I would say your brakes are just at that point where they are between metal to metal and a little bit of pad material left, they will grind some times and not others.

Im guessing when you say you checked them you just looked through the wheel, check the back pad they will ALWAYS wear quicker on the piston side.
