The names Jude, 20 years old, finishing uni in september, been studying motorsport technology for the last 2 years, looking at buying a ph2 172/182. Im down in essex for the week but i'll be back up in Stafford after this week os if your from around there and have a decent spec cup or so lemme know!

Hope to pick all ya brains for information so I know what to look for and future small mods =]

Good luck on finding your RS, but careful on the mods. at 20, you're already staring down one big insurance bill!

How much D: I've been out and about searching for a lucky strike to find a cheeky RS just chillin on a forcourt around my area but no luck! I did find one black 172 in Sudbury but it wasnt that good :/

Wihtout sounding like a complete nonce whats the main differences between 172 and 182 apart from the obvious 10BHP, which from the looks of some print outs on this forum doesnt mean s**t all about it actually sitting at 172 or 182 :/, is it just the rear bumper / exhaust and the different cup packages. I think I read something about 182 being lower and wider? Or am I wrongggggg

Iirc 182 has a different exhaust manifold, and from what people say, in real life you won't notice the bhp difference.

172 looks like a 1.2 .. 182 looks like a 1.2 and has a pair of exhausts cut out into the rear bumper. In the real world, you'll never notice the difference in power and the few mm's wider track on the 182 cup packed car (which is an entirely different thing to a 172 cup) again, unless your name is Michael Schumacher, you'll never notice.

Buy my 172 .. or do the sensible thing and buy a ph1.

Looks alright, not a massive fan of the exhaust though, you got a standard one?

Yeah I read it, looks mint. What would oyu do wiht the s/s system? Just sell it on? Bit scared of the engine mount though! My old 106's engine mount went, then cause of the extra play in the wobble all the other mounts followed haha.

The Yozza has dibs already .. and about 9 people have PMd me for the rest of the mods. TBH I don't like the look of the Yozza, but I'd replace the whole system with a stealth one of some variety. This sounds awesome and came up at the right price/time/location when I needed one

Top mount is suspension not engine mounts .. it just squeaks at low speeds when turning.

There's a new mod from Renault themselves to combat this, and if I were to replace the top mounts for some solid ones at some point, I'd be doing that too. It's literally come on the shelves in the last month or so .. Fred@BTM has a thread about them. Don't think it's more than a few quid a side.
