Harvey's BG182

Car  BG 182
So, about 4 months ago I was sat looking on facebook when I noticed one of my parents friends were selling their little black clio. Not knowing what it was or really anything about it, I asked how much they wanted for it and if I could pop down for a look. After getting the price to what I could afford she agreed to let me come for a little look around and see what all the fuss was about. As soon as I clapped eyes on it in the flesh I knew I HAD to own this car! With only 19800 on the clock for the price I offered it was the bargain of the century(Don't really want to disclose the price but let me assure you, it was a bargain). After a few questions and a bit of gossip she told me the car had been sat for going on for 3 years as she had bought a RS200 Cup and not really thought of selling it prio to now. She had it MOT'd and serviced (which without going into detail took almost 3 months, friend of hers was doing it) which gave me time to get the money together for the car. Here's how she stands so far, there's a few things to tidy up and a few mods I'd like to make but so far she's completely standard and has been as far as I know for it's entire life!

(first time uploading to a proper forum apologies if they're too small/big!)

Obviously there's the wing mirror issue! But that's a cheap fix (I'm supprised it got through the MOT with it like that). Would like to refurb the wheels, but I'd prefer some 16" pro race 1.2s. A nice cup spoiler would set it off lovely, a snappy retrim for the steering wheel as mine isn't bad with the melting, but after driving it around for a few hours leaves a nasty black mark on my palms. And last but not least, I'd like to lower it, and I've read quite a bit about these Cooksport springs, they seem to be the way to go.

Nice low mileage mate, enjoy it

Has its cambelt been changed recently , I appreciate its low miles but may be due with age of belts. I don't want your bargain biting you on arse you see. MicKPM will sort it for you as you're in Nottingham

It hasn't and that is pretty much the first thing i asked, going to get it sorted as soon as i get paid at the end of the month. Thanks for the info!

Just a quick update on daily life as a newbie clio owner. The trip computer has been resetting itself everytime I start the car, so a quick search on the forum and I find that the battery is more than likely on the way out, so I thought I'd take it out and give it an overnight charge to see if I can limp it round until pay day. After putting the battery back on, it started up lovely, but then in the morning, the worst happened. It started, then died. I guess I'll now just have to sit and wait it out till thursday and get a new battery :dapprove:.

Thought whilst it wasn't going anywhere I should throw a bucket over it as i felt a bit sorry for myself and just wanted to be around it!

So now on the list for pay day - new battery and if my tax rebate is in, a trip up to Mick for a timing/aux belt and dephaser pulley change. (going to be a tight month after that!)

Been a while since I updated so here I go. Since buying the car it's been nothing but a joy to drive. Easily the most fun I've had in a car yet!
As advised by you beautiful people i had @MicKPM change all the belts and dephaser pulley, the car felt so much smoother to drive. Yesterday I had my first distaster! I was at meadow hall with a friend and the centre
section of the exhaust failed and snapped clean! So today I've purchased a Miltek cat back and had it fitted.
Here are a few pictures of my baby taken about a month ago. I'll have to get a picture with the miltek soon!

Other than the exhaust and belts I've not really had chance to buy anything else, everytime I get money together for cup spoiler and wheel refurb something happens and it costs me a Bomb!
Anyway, thanks for looking peace out!

Silver lining... nice new exhaust now on greatly improving grin factor when driving.

I still think you need to clean it as I hate dirty cars lolz
