I was told about 4k miles ago that my rear discs were on their way out. However the garage that told me this I do not trust at all.

How can I tell if my discs need changing?

With the rears, it's almost a certainty that the bearings will wear out/get funked before the discs. Normally due to over/under tightening of the hub nut.

To check, jack up, and with the wheel on rock the wheel side to side. If there's play, they need swapping.

Exactly what happened to me and the car failed it's MOT.

All got sorted in the end though
