HELP! anyone with a Mk1 16V Lookalike

I was wanting to fit a rain catcher to the under side of my valver bonnet, it attached fine but there isn't enough clearance to the engine to actually shut the bonnet. Doh! Has anyone else had this problem and managed to get round it? The engine's the 1.8 8v.

Can you not just bond the vent to the bonnet hole and do without the raincatcher?

Cheers guys. Was already running with just the vent fixed on. With the raincatcher on the bonnet is over 1 inch away from shutting so didn't know if it was worth attempting to chop the catcher!
