any good places to start to ring?

I presume he's had a ban. But the points don't just disappear, they still have to expire in the same way if you had 3.

It may be thats how many points hes had in the last 5 years, which is do-able without a ban.

If hes not had a ban, then most mainstream insurers will insure him id have thought!

in the last 5 years im not far off that number and im only 23. can still insure my 172.

You can actually have more than 15 points and not be banned. Common misconception. Individual circumstances dictate.

A friend I used to play footie with had 15, he was a sale rep for a brewry, up and down the country everyday and was allowed to keep his licence. I sort of understand the reasoning. It was a bloody Toyota Avensis he had aswell!

No help to the OP sorry. :(

I might be able to help you organise something. We have one underwriter that we use that specialise in convicted drivers....They look at the fact that your dad will driving the car much more carefully because one more mishap and he could lose his licence.

If you wanted to PM your details I could have a look at it for you.

I know someone with 27 points I think it was? He doesn't learn. But he doesn't care as his boss will keep writing letters to the court saying how valuable he is and he cannot replace him so he can't lose his license.

Silly really.
