just do it mate, if you like the car ur thinking of swapping for then do it. you only get one chance, lifes to short to worry. i swapped my ka for a 172 that was a year and a half older with twice as much mileage but im really happy now.
Personally i wouldnt bother matey. However Pros and cons:
-Black, pfffft. Shows up the dirt.
-Turbo (whats the insurance like compared to Clio?). But tunable
-Do you want a straight line rocket? Or a more all round car?
- Clio definately looks better. Dont like the Fiat looks. Something wrong with the arches, its those lines
-Its a Fiat, but, you ARE swapping a Renault (so no loss there)
-Value. Your Clio is worth more. Sell it privately and get a better Fiat if you want one
-Dont fall prey to the got to have it now mentallity. If its meant to be it will happen. Have faith. Be patient.
just cleaned my clio hmm looks nice been for a spin,turbo still tempting but it is another £200+ for insurance ish,and i doubt i will get anywhere near 38 mpg like in the renault.
another thing is the buggers either side of me hardly leave me enough room to park as it is but can get the clio in (most times),fiat coupe id have no chance!
maybe if i move and get a house with a garage,that will lower insurance,but will probably have twice the mortgage!!,stick with the 172 i think,.......seen a nice cup for £9995.noooooooooooo...(my wifes gonna kill me
)Great car for the money (I has an early one a few years ago), be aware:
Lots come onto the market cheap before the 56k (from memory) service which is cam belts, take it to a dealer and its engine out, specialist can do without, budget £500.
Uses 1 ltr of oil every 1,000 miles & heavy on front tyres.
Check its had the exhaust manifold replaced, they do crack and cost £500 to replace.
The black is ink black which is actually dark metalic blue/purple, nice but a pig to keep looking good.
Insurance is group 20 and you may need a tracker.
Try to get one with A/C and leather, best when comes to resale, cloth is worth £500 less.
£7,700 is fair money for a 99 with leather, sub 50k and FFSH, beware of anything cheaper with iffy history, when they go wrong they aint cheap.

Youd be MAD not to.
They are awesome cars but as someone above stated they are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE to have serviced and repaired. The parts are v expensive and alot of the jobs are beyond the diy mechanic without the correct tools. Buy it if you can afford the bills.
