Just to note that
If you loosed the 4 16mm bolts on the left hand top mount, put a large bar behind the mount and pull the whole mount and engine forward as far as you can get it (engine is pulled towards the front bumper)
then whilst holding it forward tighten the 4 16mm bolts back up nice and tight,
try this as it will only take 2 mins and could solve half the problems for you guys
what sort of money are new mounts?

do this now people it sorted my banging and it only moved 10mm
just been out going nuts in the sheen from the early night frost and didnt bang once
someone buy this man a beer
problem with fitting solid mounts is that the vibration would be completely unbearable. i had GrpN mounts in a 205 too and reckon they were one of the most effective fast road/track mods i made - much sweeter gearshift and it was keener on turn in too. downside was the vibration but it's posible to get used to it.
wasn't someone on here looking into coming up with a set for the Clio a little while ago? they were expensive as i recall

try the top one again. I tried it before but didnt make any difference. Just went out this evening and tried again and managed to move the mount about 5mm i think and the improvement is huge.mine still knocking under very hard lauching? done evrything possible but still doin it
I think this might help with that.also if that doesnt work then you can also fit the washers that sit under the bolts under the mount, then pull it forward.. tighten the bolts.. if it works then make sure you buy washers where the originals were too!
thanks for the advise bud but it wont come any more forward, you know to two little tabs that keeps the mount in place? mines pulled so forward the tab stops it from coming any more forward

iv put washers under the box mount, not under the top engine mount,il try that

Also if there is a gap between the rubber and the metal try getting a g clamp on it and clamp it up to close the metal bits together and eliminate the gap, just an idea, not tried it yet..

i get a bad knocking under hard acceleration and braking, not sure if it's from the gearbox or engine though...
