BTW I drive the "1.4 16v Dynamique!" not the 1.2 16v, I think you are mixxed up with the guy who started this thread!
So I think you will find that my times are valid with a 1.4 16v inc. MODS!!!!!!
A car doesnt have to have abig engin to be fast! for example, Punto and R5 Turbo have 1.4 engines. 106 and VTS have 1.6 engines! point made!!!!
Theefore it is not impossible for me to KEEP up with a 206 GTi considering all the mods I have!!!!!!!!!
Lol at Tim "we hit mach 2 I few past him", classic. Twofast4u you might takes more risks than a 172 driver on the road but that doesnt mean your machine is anywhere near as quick as a 172. Im sure your car is nice and all but unless the road is really really, should read no damn straights at all, twisty you wont stand a chance with keeping up with a well driver 172 Is there going to be a track day for the cliosport guys?. If so Im sure some of us 172 drivers will take some of you 1.2 drivers on track. Out on the road theres too much traffic normally for a good race, and some of us just arent going to drive too dangerous on the roads to prove a point. Like the other day a Fiat Bravo was next to me at the traffic lights, I was chatting to a m8 and didnt notice this badboy The lights change and he shoots of, so I let my hand brake go engaged 1st gear then catch him by top of second then stopped slowed down and looked over and smiled then booted it Was fun

Doesnt change anything mate, youll still be lucky to see the better side of 30 to 100. You would probably be running VTR times over the 1/4, i.e no better thatn 17s, compared to mid to high 15s for the GTI. No matter what way you swing it mate, there is no friggen way yer getting close to a GTI!

1 second? well the GTis only one second faster than me in 0-60! so now you can see why I can keep up with it!
trust me the v6 is only 1second more than the 172 in 0-60, but with me driving it, you wouldnt have a chance mate!!!!!
Thats 0-100 Mph not 0-60 Mph The 206 Gti has been timed to do 0-60 Mph in the 7s, and a modded 1.4 16v would not get near that time. Wow m8 you really impress me with your talk of driving skills Me Im just your average driver You must be a rally driver or something hehe, but no matter your skill level racing on the motorway (from one of your previous posts) requires as much skill as a wet cabbage. Even with your v6 you would be hard pushed to pull away on a motorway from me, the average skilled driver.

your 1.4 is not fast and to be honest is quite sh*t really. look at my profile you little boy and see for yourself what real sports cars are. i dont normally say things like this and put people motors down but i think you need putting in your place. you rant on about owning a v6 but as pointed out if you did know your cars its barely faster than a 172 plus there actually worse handling cars, 172 are quick and handle well thats why they are popular. you carrying on ranting about the v6 but by the time you got it, most of us would be on bigger faster cars.
i have a bro who has a vtr and sorry for everyone caining saxo drivers(a lot are t***s but not all) but he does not chat like a c*** all day long claiming to beat cars he know he cant so what makes you 1.2 and 1.4 boys think you can take on the world with you small engined only useful for housewives to go shopping in.

biggest mistake reno made was to not make the mk 2 more distinct from the crappy models which leads to t***s like you jumping on the bandwagon of the real fast cars unlike yours

Wow long post im off to bed now night night. Wongy chill man 1.4 16v is nippy and agreat car to have at the age of 17, but to come on and say you can beat a 2.0 16v pug Gti in a fair race is a joke , plus it was on a motorway. you might think the 172 drivers as smug and stuff but we just know the limits of our cars and others. Its like me coming on here tommorow saying I wasted a P1 scooby LOL, dont think so. Im just thinking at motorway speeds maybe the GTI driver was just driving normally and never noticed you .

Having owned a 1.4RT (8v 85bhp) its slow as f***ing f***!!! and i never drive it cause i have my race prepped N20 MK1 20yr old XR2!! and thats fun, only got about 100bhp.
i have done cars at tracksdays like porsche 948s, astra gtes, saxos.....but i did get done by a nova...although the flames commin out the exhaust hints to its little blower!
and at 17, i didnt have a licence to drive on the road, however, my race licende did approve me to drive my 250cc (100bhp (more than your car already) 140kg) formula E kart......hmmm, 0-100mph in 5.6 secs!!
oh, and me accidentally winning 2 titles means nothing of course.
ANd when the new engine goes in the RT with 130odd bhp and the N20 kit goes on it, im sellin it, cause its still not as good as my 172.....which when i really try can keep up with an evo (remember the turbos and 4wd and 280? (100more than me)) but then im taking risks which are stupid.
oh, and your mentioned mods are not gonna give you the power hike your thinkin of. But you do have a great car for 17yrs old, i wish i did, better than the 1.6 16V megane cab i had....that was slow!
Sensible fellow. Those who have raced know that one neednt take risks on the road and even on the track taking risks is not rewarded sufficiently. If you want to take risks go to the casino. Driving is about skill and knowing the limitations of your vehicle. Back in my racing days I slew a few giants with my VW GTis but that was in a controlled environment. We were all racing. When you get out on a track everybody is racing. Biggest field I was in was 80 cars. They were all racing. They all knew that the car next to them was racing. Yesterday at the ring, I was starting to get the hang of it again. I flew by a good few fast cars but that is not racing. It isnt even close!
I think hes just winding everyone up to get a rise. Hes done very well at that. Look at him, hes 17, just passed his test and hes in his first car. You sound like the kind of driver who takes really stupid risks like overtaking on blind corners (like my nutter friend) and endangers other peoples lives more than necessary. Theres a limit to racing on the roads, and in my opinion, you shouldnt drive like a dildo just to get ahead. The reason you are racing is to prove that you have a faster car and compare with another etc. Not to swipe someone else off the road. I got beaten by a crap 1.7 Vectra a while back because he chose to drive in the middle of the road and wouldnt let me past as he knew i could completely destroy him. I stayed well back and left him to it. Maybe thats what your "victims" did, they didnt want to endanger other people and more importantly themselves from stupid (unexperienced) drivers like yourself. I have had LOTS of young drivers in Novas, small engined clios, saxos, escorts all sorts drive in this way just to get past and ive let them all go because a) i dont want to drive like they do and i know i can toast them anyway and have nothing to prove b) i dont want them to drive into other road users/walls etc. Stick to racing normally and not endangering other peoples lives please. I saw a very nasty accident 2 days ago (police and ambulance hadnt arrived) from the result of a dickhead driving on the wrong side of the road on a blind corner, the driver of the car on the wrong side crashed into a metro which was driving normally and had 2 people in who were in their early 20s (my age 21, not 25, got my 172 when i was 20 ) The 2 innocent people were both killed and the dickhead driver was ok, for which im glad he survived so that he can live on knowing he did that to them - in jail. Dont drive like a dick, and please dont try and race me, i really dont want to. A guy i knew we used to race when we were younger (17) had a 900cc corsa and my mate had a clio 1.4 RT and we were overtaking him easily, as we did this he swerved into us nearly causing a major crash on a fast dual carriageway - i.e. hogging. Leave that to computer games, from which youve just upgraded yourself from. You cant turn crash off in real life. Go easy on your driving please, i know im no saint, but i know when and where to do it and have a car built for sporty driving!

I had some boy racer in his 1.3 nova sr with 4 people in it try playing with my scoob, it was rather wet (ie p155ing it down) and i have rather good wet weather tyres on (ie bridgestone so2pps).
There is a nice bit of duel carriage way from stockport towards bredbury junction of the m60, now he was keeping up but ragging the ass off his car, i was changing gears at less than 4k i also have very good brakes and went round the roundabout and through the little s bends on the other side somewhat quicker than he did but thats how i drive anyway but he did eventually catch up, whilst i was stuck behind about 5 cars he decided he would overtake (remembering that this is an overloaded nova) doing approx 60mph in a 40 on a left hand sweeping bend and nearly crashing into the car coming the other way because he wanted to overtake an impreza... fool... he could have killed or injured 5 or more people due to his wonderful driving in bad conditions... and the funny thing is, is that my tyres probably cost more than his nova
Now, alot of people are saying that 1.2ltr and 1.4ltr 16v cars will whoop 2ltr 16v cars in the same weight bracket..... nope sorry, not a chance.
These "town cars" are made to feel pretty nippy in the lower gears, and even with an exhaust etc your not going to get more than 7-10bhp MAXIMUM from your car, it took over 40bhp to get my car from a quoted 5.2 to 4.9 0-60 time, and my car had a very restrictive exhaust on to start with.
Just remember that not everyone wants to play, mainly cos they know they have nothing to prove

im not deliberately caining your motor as when i was 17 i drive a 1.2 nova yes a 1.2 nova it was crap and slow and handled poo too, thats why i never modded and moved on,you will have to accept that you got a 1.2 or 1.4 whatever coz you cant afford a faster car.if you could im sure you would have your v6 or 172. it does not matter
racing on the roads is ok as long as no 1 is at riskjudgement has to be made by the driver to only go as far he should feel safe to do so without putting anyone in danger. pulling off stupid risky moves being stupid and irresponsible and thats why ins companys sting people who have just past there test on fast cars
hope you just grow up and enjoy the club for what it is. just a friendly bunch of like minded people who enjoy and know the limits or there own cars

Cars I have beaten are smaller engined cars with similar performance as mine, as mentioned before the 1.4 SRi, 1.6 Zetec-S, 1.2 Punto Sporting, 1.6 VTR, 106 1.6 XSi, KA 1.3 and Puma 1.7!!!!!!!!

Didnt have a Nova when i was 17, it was a scirocco 1.6 (boat) and would probably beat your 1.4 clio no problem. It also toasted a VTR. Your car is not that fast, so there! haha, neeer neer ner neeeerr neeerr!!! youve got a slow car and you cant toast me! by the way, ive beaten a subaru WRX (Y-reg estate) and the driver admitted it. Can you beat those???? i dont think so. Youve got a boat, and when youre older youll (maybe) have a faster car. Live with it like everyone else did and be humble in your little shopping trolley. By then (if you havent killed yourself with your "Police" trained driving), I reckon you might actually have a car like a 172. Basically, having had the experience of actually owning a fast car (not just test driving one, but having one for years), youll see why we all think youre being a bit, erm..."immature"(?).
If you do one day have a fast car, youll probably also be laughing at stories of how a 1.2 kept up with 172/206 GTi.
Manufacturers have a reputation to take care of. Why would Renault Sport bother with the 172 or V6 if a 1.4 16v could keep up with all the other hot hatches??

Enjoy your car, you are very lucky to have such a nice car at 17 I had a 1.3 litre Escort. Just dont be stupid!
When I was 17 (25 now) my friends would race each other, two ran into a wall at 40mph lost control on a corner, 1 hit a stag and rolled the car into a 6ft ditch. I have seen a lot of accidents caused by young racers, many involving young children who were thrown through the windowscreen trying to avoid idiots. At your age I would race anything that moved, but in hindsight they wernt racing me. Who in a 2litre car would race a 1.4 they know you arnt going to win. You may be faster than a lot of cars 0-6 in the 9s is very good for a 1.4 but a 206 is faster than the official figures suggest.
If you want to race be very careful, you may think you are imortal but other road users arnt and this is why it costs so much for me to get insured, and you as well.
Hopefully you will be alive at 25 to enjoy your V6 just be careful of those who dont want to race e.g 99%+ of people who are not driven by hormones.

this is a wind- up by the 1.2 boys surely?? maybe not, i overtook a cruising ferrari on the m25 the other day, so i guess my car must be faster than that!! as for the mods you guys have done, you would all be better off spending some money on suspension or brakes, or better still, looks, coz it aint no supercar!! i wouldnt fancy going up against a 206gti in my valver, and trust me ive got a lot more proper mods on mine. Dont get me wrong, the 1.2 new clios do look well nice, but your just dreaming mate!!
Why is it that most people think that an exhaust and induction kit will give their cars big bhp?
All i see here are some young lads wanting to think that they can race and beat bigger (and basically much quicker cars...) Grow up alot will you...
Ive had some plays with bigger cars, even up to serious figures on the clock, trouble is, my car was at the redline in 5th and the guy infront was still pulling!....
We had a chat, ok i kept up with him but does that make my car quicker than his? errrrrrrrrm nope.... his car was the quicker car, it may have been bigger but it definately had more power than mine
There is only 1 car i know of that gets serious gains with an exhaust (and we are talking 30bhp here) and thats an Impreza
The reason?
A very restrictive exhaust for the type of car and 2 cats...
Adding an exhaust and filter (which isnt really a good idea unless you put it in the wing as all your doing is forcing warm air back into your engine) will give you more noise and minimal gains, ie you may gain .5 of a sec to 100mph, nothing serious, your car will still not perform like a 2ltr (unless you do some serious performance modifications to the engine and have an ecu to match).
All im going to say now is have your kill (if you dont get killed in the process) but you wont say anything when the next 206gti whoops your ass will you?

Just been reading these threeds and I have been pissing myself. This is true comedy.
twofast4u reminds me of myself when I was his age. I had a Cav LX with the Astra 1.8 SRi engine for my first car and i thought this was amazing (wasnt bad for a first car). I could give people a good race but it was only because I drove like a t**ser. I saw off several cars (with better stats) but only because the way I was driving,I drove in a way that soon I was going to kill myself or someone else (people I was racing wouldnt drive like this).
Then one day I stacked it big time into a ditch and knocked out my passenger. I then realised like you will that anyone can take risks but it dont make u a good driver or make u have a faster car as 1 day you will mess up and do damage to yourself or even worse someone else.
I now drive a proper car and realise that the cav wasnt nothing compaired. I look back in shame at my ignorance. This was only 4yrs ago but you will learn.
