Insurance, yes please...excuse me?....How much?

  Clio Sport 172
I've just sold my Boxster S to part fund a house extension and picked up a 172, which I love by the way.

Dismayed to find that the insurance on what I thought was a cheaper run about, is about the same!!!!

36YO female, 5 years NCB no ACC's....The Box was £785, the Clio.....a whopping £845 with Admiral!!!

Any suggestions?

Spend a few hours getting quotes? Try confused etc, sky insurance are competitve, pay £10 to become a member on here and you get an owners club discount with them. You must have a nightmare postcode, I was paying less than that, with lots of mods in central Birmingham.

  ITB BG 182
Im in a nightmare postcode and i pay less than that with bans and points on my license with all mods including the ITB's listed.

I'll do that thanks.

No, not a nightmare postcode, car is garaged too.......

Sounds like I can get it cheaper which is reassuring

Weird, maybe Admiral aren't a fan of the 172? Weirdly mine was cheaper not garaged?

It's cheaper for me to keep the car on the street than on the drive or in the garage with Admiral :S

Try Greenlight too, ive never had a problem with them but it costs me £545 for all mods listed (alot of them) in a garage in a rough estate area, i have a ban and points on my record with other things too. Im dreading this years renewal though.

Imo the majority of the mainstream insurers are clueless-the micky mouse quote you've got from Ele-generic being a good example.

At least with the majority of specialist insurers, there seems to have been at least some thought gone into the risk matrices to give lower and imo more realistic quotes. From what you've put getting at best £800 odd seems ridiculous. Do you live in Beirut?:S

Out of interest, what is the postcode? Some people think they live in low risk areas, when they live in high risk areas.. eg I had a guy the other day from Bradford (city centre) who was adamant it was a good area, our stats show otherwise.

But your company must rate postcodes weirdly imo. The company my dad works for, brentacre, CK and flux all rate my area as low risk, yet you have stupid restrictions.

Although Bradford centre I agree with lol

You're right there...... I'm 26, male, 6years NCB, no points on license and they wanted over £1000!!!!!!! I actually LOL at them on the phone....... Went with "BeWiser" in the end, still not cheap tho

They work for us though, we have some of the best stats in the business which means we can be very competitive for those who meet our criteria. Not ideal for all, but absolutely brilliant for some and good for the majority!
