Just did a quote on tesco.com and it came to 1100 tpft, but it didnt have anywhere to declare my mods?

thats with my mom as a named driver also.

ive tried confused.com and it says most sites couldnt be connected blah blah blah, usually gives me quotes from tesco n direct line.. with others wanting 3k+

who would you recommend trying? ill be 21 saturday, insurin a 1.4 1997 clio maxim. usual mods, lowered alloys induction kit ice etc etc

cheers

Try a broker, I know it sounds wierd but they have access to loads of special policies that direct insurers dont.

Remember alot of these direct insurers (including Tesco) are NOT insurers, they simply operate a branded product from their own insurer.

Most direct insurers can advertise a great low headline rate but they are only after really low risk customers (over 25, lots of ncb, good postcode, low group car etc. etc.)

Really, go down to you local high street broker and see what they can do. Youll be suprised!!

Trust me.... theyre still there in your local high street. You dont pay them anything, they get a commission from the insurer once they place your business.

They are also now regulated by the FSA so they have to tell you what commission they are getting if you ask, but only if you ask. this gives you even more bargaining power!

what kind of place will the brokers be in.. will there be an actual brokers building.. or will they have brokers in like somethin else? ive never heard of a brokers in the towns around my area

Where you from? There is bound to be an insurance broker somewhere nearby (they are usually in an office just like an estate agent for example) Go and sit down in fron of them and bargain...... they can negotiate, big direct insurers cant.

The thing to remember is this - Basically there are two ways of obtaining insurance, one is a direct insurer who takes on all the risk themselves (Norwich Union for example). The other is a syndicate at Lloyds who decide to take on the risk between them. If you go to an independant broker he will tap into the syndicates and may be able to give you cheaper cover as they are more flexible. A direct insurer only cater for the lowest risk.

I am an insurance manager I know this sh*t!!!!!!!!

Bloody Hell that seems very expesnive.

Try HIC (01279 719 932), Im paying £700 TPFT with 1 NCB, 5 points and a claim on a 1.2.

Members get a discount as well.

Make sure you have a speaker phone though, sometimes takes them a while to answer the phone.

As said above, they are a broker, not a direct insurer, beat most of the quotes I had by a couple of Hundred quid.

Elephant with named drivers are usually pretty good, not majorly keen on Mods though.

try co-op - sounds funny i know but ive got all mods declared and its £450 a year fully comp but that is in mothers name and im 21- still chuffed wiv that tho!

I was going to suggest Greenlight in Brentwood 01277 263030
Im 22, 3yrs no claims&on my 172, renault insurance wanted £1500!!! I rang these guys(SPEAK TO NEIL). They quoted £1236 fully comp AND i believe they can cover you for track days as well.
Quite a result as my last car a 1.2 16v dynamique i was paying £1111 fully comp
