Jekyll's RB182 Progress Thread

Mark, with those shock socks. Are they a breathable material?

When I was looking into them, this seemed quite important, so that any moisture which does get inside the cover can dry and doesn't sit there on stuff making it rust more.

Cheers for the link. They look decent, and Motamec are a good brand, however no mention of being breathable. I'm still not sure whether that's just hype though or actually important. Keep the thread updated with how you get on with them please, rubbing issues and grime protection etc

@Martin. I'll keep you updated. I probably wont remove the covers for a few weeks so it'll be a good chance to find out as the weather is crap atm. I'm thinking of putting some GT85 on the coiovers to help them while there inside the covers too.

@RMDavis Well its a complete comparison that way 😂

Did you have any problems refitting your windscreen trims? I did mine this way but it was a ballache refitting the top one! Probably didn't help i had no rubber mallet to hand.

I'm going to have to get some bulbs now, my output is nothing like that and as I won't be driving in daylight for a few months they might be a good buy!

I was thinking this, them sidelights look brighter than my main beam haha.

Just been out to my sunstrip and its bubbled up a little on the passenger side, and is basically not even stuck down on that side. Fab. Was perfect a week ago!

Sure thing Paul.

Ignore the item pic, its generic. These are what you get:

And the main beams:

Thay are rainbow effect, as you can see in the above pic, but all have great light output.

Very interesting updates once again, i'm loving that steering wheel bracket for the buttons, never seen a clearer (acrylic?) one however, they are normally a solid black? Was it all a ball ache to fit or did it go together ok? Who made the bracket?

The coilover covers are a cracking idea but I too wouldn't have thought of the possible moisture problem, might be worth keeping an eye on that as mentioned above

@182_steve The bracket has always been tinted black. I thought this too but its always like this, its the shadow that makes it look solid black.

Yeah, i will keep an eye on he covers/coilovers. I know many people that run with them fitted so i cant imaging itll be a bad thing, but worth checking in a few weeks regardless.

Also, regarding the wheel, you can fit a resistor but luckily my friend Alex has Clip and turned out the light for me

The boss and steering wheel came with the car when i bought it but momo, omp or oreca like this one is fits all aftermarket wheels.

One of my favourite cars on the forum mate. Didn't Christopher's have a similar plate?

Turning in to the ultimate RB once finished.

I like the interior with RB strips etc and some decals then lacquered over. Brightens things up a tad I think.

Also steering wheel I love Alcantara. Feel is so nice on the sabelt wheel.

Keep up the good work mate. Subscribed.

Thanks for the info Mark, that's an interesting point about turning the light off but the resistor will be a good plan too, as is the boss info, never bought one before so I assumed a Momo boss was for a Momo wheel etc. As you've seen I have messaged Josh about getting one LOL! He too said the bracket has always been tinted so that's cool, we'll call it a trick of the light...... 6 button with all black buttons might be on the cards

P.S. that's a pain in the bum with your fuel gauge but a quick fix by the looks of it

@gally Thanks for the kind words buddy. Thats a bold statement! Ive always said its not mint, far from it. Im just enjoying this one!

Cant remember Christophers old plate. Was it VF54?

Very much looking forward to the retrim. I said id do it to the ph1 and never did, but i am to this. It'll look great with the cruise control bracket too.

@182_steve Im sure @MrBlonde has done it via the resistor. Alex has clip so it was a no brainer for me to get it done that way.

As for the bosses, my personal preference is Momo. Not sure why as there all the same but i like the brand. The OMP one a has a different rubber sleeve. Either way they all fit aftermarket wheels as the holes are all the same.

Yes i did see you message him. He'll sort you out ok. Tbh bud, once its fitted its hard to see through the bracket and it does look solid black from the seating position. 6 button ones work well as you dont need to change the stalk for a ph1 one with horn. I already had one fitted so seems silly to remove it. I personally prefer the 4 button anyway as it looks like less is going on, if you get what i mean? Either way, its definitely something to look into. If you need any advice etc regarding the wheel, boss or bracket, just holla at me!

Luckily the clock was £10 so nice and easy to fix, plus the new clock bezel was sprayed tonight and im happier with this one so it was money well spent!

@OssPoop You can, but you remove half your hands!

Joking aside, they can all be chaned with the bumper intact but its fiddly. Its just easier for me to remove my bumper as it takes less than a minute due to no inner arches and screws.

@MrBlonde Id 'leave yours as it is buddy. Pretty sure they all match well on yours.

First and only time I had the bumper off I lost an arch liner the next day! I think I've only got a couple of screws in it now too.

To be honest you can probably get away with leaving the arch liners in place and just dropping the bumper slightly to get access to the headlight bolts.

Alternatively I prefer to just remove the plastic 'bungs' in the arches with a trim removal tool. Then you can just leave the liners attached to the bumper when you remove it.

Good man, thanks for that, may take you up on the advise offer  I totally agree about the 4 button bracket, it does look much cleaner but as I don't have the Ph1 stalk, I won't bother getting one, will just go for the 6 button variant. Maybe I can pretend all the buttons are for ejector seat and machine guns etc 😂 joking aside, should look good! I get that with the Momo, will have a look on Demon Tweeks. Don't want a cheapie off eBay.

Yep my was ok with just putting a resistor in,didnt work at first but then i redone it & just made sure it had good connections with the resistor then put insulated tape over. @182_steve

Thanks for that  so with the resistor, no lights on or any other issues?

No mate, only at first but that was down to me not putting the resistor in properly. So when you go to put the resistor in,make sure you bend back the wires so they double up on there self if you know what i mean, that it will have a tight fit!.It may come up on the dash for a little while but once the car has sorted itself out it should turn off. @182_steve

DO NOT BUY CHEAP!! Stick with a well known brand and pay the extra for it. I will leave this here.....

The rears arent as flush as the fronts. Ive just ordered some PMS 5mm wheel spacers so hopefully this will even the gap, but also shorten the stud thread so it'll be equal to the fronts.

So now the mileage is pretty much were it was before the old clocks went haywire, barring a few hundred miles.

Car is getting new Aux kit and 2nd hand PAS pump fitted this weekend  I also have a spare set of side badges so im going to spray them the same colour as the interior/engine bay. If i dont like them, then i will get some flat ones from a non sport and get @LeeRS to make me some stickers and do it that way. I may even do the smooth bullets RB with anthracite lettering but will see how the painted ones look first.
