So with my current N/S hub having play where the ball joint goes, i bought another new genuine bearing seen above and a 2nd hub from @Coops Turbo. The hub turned up friday so i decided to (once again!) stay after work to do soe more work on the RB! I must love it there and the RB too! :laughing:
Jacked up.
I took no time in destroying/breaking down the 2nd hub.
Sandblasted and painted :smile:
All ready for refitting
After last time with pulling out the driveshaft, i took no chances and prepared myself!
Thankfully, seen as everything was new, cleaned and greased, it all came apart effortlessly.
Pressed out the flange and as expected, the bearing race was stuck on the flange. This is why i bought a new bearing and am glad i did as to remove it i had to do this:
Only a few weeks old too! New bearing kit and painted hub ready for rebuilding:
At this point i must admit i had a bit of a scare as i didn't place a tube under the bearing when pressing it into the flange. This made the bearing pop out a bit. Cue a good half hour while i collected my bearings (see what i did there :wink
and figured out what i had done wrong. Once i figured it out out i rebuilt them and all went together as they should be. However i did make another rookie mistake. I had only one side jacked up and was struggling to get the ball joint in. After a quick recap, i realised the anti roll bar was doing its thing so i jack up the other side so both wheels where off the ground and hey presto, all back on as it should be with no dramas! :smile:
On and torqued up to 280nm.
During the night i started to paint the clock bezel in between the bearing change. From this:
To this:
I gave it a good few coats of lacquer and kept it somewhere safe over the weekend so it could dry properly. Obviously i shut/locked my toolbox draws.
By this point it was getting late and i was getting quite tired. This was apparent with my few mistakes tonight, plus id stayed at work the night before till 10pm doing some charity work that my firm are involved with. This will be revealed soon but its for children with Duchenne and the charity we are raising for is Harrison's Fund, which is very close to my boss's heart. However, there is always time for a quick few snaps!
So that was that for friday. Sunday i went outside and gave the RB a quick wash (no point in anything more as it had rained overnight and the roads was still fairly damp) as i was heading off to the Witham meet for some pub lunch. Noticed this so that will be replaced soon.
I also took part of the windscreen sticker off by accident so i removed the lot of it. I have another spare should i want to put it back on. The meet was nice and we stopped off to get some pics afterwards. They can be found here:

Not bad for a car that ticked this number this morning before work:
As you can see around the edge of the bezel in between the 7k and 8k mark the paint raised. This is why i painted my new one. Here is fully hardened:
I will give it a light flat and dry with 2000 grit and some polish and refit it, hopefully for the last time!
I have got a new exhaust surround coming and i will order some new aero blades for the car all round too. That's it for now :smiley:
