Joes BG182 Money Pit..

Coming along nicely bud, Dont buy the enlarged TB though, but its your car :wink:

Haha it's happening mate! I'm not expecting any gains from it, just the price for it to be enlarged professionally and painted professionally is worth it :)

Meanwhile my somewhat favourite past time of cleaning/polishing has become borderline OCD. Past month alone I've spent close to £120 on products. Anyway took a trip to Derby and bought these (along with more stuff not pictured)

...

With that I tackled the bonnet of the car. Rinsed, snow foam, De-tarred & De ironised, wash and wax, dried, glossworkz(ed) and then Butter wax to achieve this;

Worlds best iPhone photos there. :up::up::up:
Proper camera would show the shine even better.

Also with the Black&Yellow theme..

Some Liquid Yellow love going off in this update. Got sent these photos just now from the guy who's matched and ported my custom inlets and enlarged Throttle Body.

Looking spot on Liquid Yellow! Should recieve it all on Wednesday/Thursday so I'll update with loads of pics then on here and in the Media section :)

Thanks dude, slowly but surely it's coming along.. And it's not even moved anywhere the last almost 2 months now hahaha.

Also forgot to mention I also achieved this ultimate mirror shot today with my new cleaning/detailing thiiiiinnnngs.

I REALLY need a proper camera.

Also bought and waiting on a full front and rear set of Hel braided brake lines in guess what colour.. Yellow :cool:

looking good man, black always looks amazing when really cleaned and polished up. I need to get cracking on ordering up a few new bits, going to invest in some polish and pads as my paint feels like sandpaper 😂. Plus i havent washed it in the best part of a month :neutral:

Liking the yellow so far, subtle touches are working well :smile:

Yeah dude! Get some cleaning stuff, if like me you can easily waste/enjoy 2hours or so just cleaning/detailing it then defo invest (; results always worth it. Arctic blue would look immense shiny wet look clean. Black however lasts around a day before blemishes like dust show up -.- plus you can see literally every mark and imperfection :weary:

In other news I got some more photos of the manifolds, posted today so should be here tomorrow;

They cost a fair few pretty pennies but :cool::cool::cool: money pit after all!

Once I get them I'm going have to spend a while masking out the RS lettering to paint black .. Slowly with a paintbrush hahahaha.

Also got these today:

As for yellow.. They're kinda lime yellow. But oh well you barely see them anyway!

Also some sticker love

Also got this to add to my now Rodiculous borderline extensive detailing collection;

I read a raving review about this before I bought it. Apparently gives a real wet look gloss coating.. And damn it does! Highly recommend this stuff. £12 + postage on ebay with a huge 1L bottle.

21DCF6CE-6E80-4FB9-B347-E3EAE86A9ED7.jpg

Again iPhone photos but If the iPhone can show how glossy and wet it's made my bonnet look then imagine proper photos or even better.. Real life :wink:

Haha i can defo waste multiple hours on my car so i went ahead and bought some. An unexpected £50 expense that i wasnt planning on when i woke up but oh well, hopefully i can get some of the swirl marks out of my paint and restore the shine :grin: yeah i know what you mean dude, thats why i chose not to get another black car haha.

Damn! those inlets are lovely, must have cost you a fair chuck. But defiantly 100% worth it, picked up my new tyres yesterday off a guy with a LY, first time seeing the colour in the flesh up close and it really is a great colour.

Took the day off work tomorrow to get going on a few jobs and a wash, then checked the weather and oh great looks like im getting some rain. Still gonna crack on anyway 😂😂

Did you crack on with it? Need to see a slick glossy Arctic as i never cleaned the one i owned for a week haha.

Meanwhile I made a thread in the media section about the LY inlets so I'll leave these before and afters here;

Won't be fitted until toward the end of the year so they're sitting here looking pretty at the moment. I want to paintbrush in the RS logo in black. Properly all masked out though. No cowboy jobs with that colour :cool:

Meanwhile after the cars long journey of not going anywhere it refuses to start. It ticks over and over but never actually fires up. So quick text to the guy in the know and he said more than likely the Crankshaft Sensor.

With me being totally stupid when it comes to mechanics and Google at my side I tackled it:

Hardest thing was taking out the airbox :weary: but got it out

7836C5BF-592E-4CAC-BB92-7C5EE7FDA632.jpg

Then couldn't find the sensor, thought it was this or at least near whatever this is:

6A5A5CB6-21D6-4385-B73C-7160673BD6B2.jpg

So I googled it and found it even lower down in the most hard to reach place and with crying and shouting it was unscrewed:

B57F9878-136F-42F8-82B7-7B5AE7F3D684.jpg

Here we go:

5AD4A468-2553-40BB-BCAE-EE151FB1E8F5.jpg

Apparently all I'm supposed to do is just clean it? So whatever I did, wasn't expecting anything to happen, plug back in and hoorah, tissue wiping clean that thing ^ made the car fire up again so that's that job done.

With the airbox out I cleaned the throttle body (pointless got a new one)
But this is the before state

01E372C7-DE8E-471B-8536-3FFCE2D628AC.jpg

Had a nosey in the current airbox and yep, BMC is in it;

After all that faff I remembered the V6 airbox :cool: so trial fitted:

I've got the strap for it too but no idea wtf it's supposed to strap to?

C5CF4141-DC17-45C5-9C69-51A877404DF5.jpg

Anyway it's not staying in there yet, so back to normal set up. Want to see if I can feel a difference with everything else on in one go. Plus I need to clean it up more.

Did you crack on with it? Need to see a slick glossy Arctic as i never cleaned the one i owned for a week haha.

Yeah i cracked on haha, only really ended up giving it a quick wash and cleaned up the engine bay. Got a long list planned for the weekend tho :grin:. When can you drive it? must be torture it sitting there and you not being able to go out for a spin 😂

Hahaha yeah it's annoying not being able to drive it yet. Sometimes I just sit in it like :cool: then realise this is sad and crack on with life.
Insurance runs out on the 1.4 Rep on October 27th, so start to look for the best quote from the 6th. Green light seems to be the best so far but we'll see in time.

Jobs I've cracked on with today are to see whether the pollen filter needed changing or not so;

Seems to be changed recently ish, still a lot of white in areas so no need to change for the moment

Self explanatory really.
Finally sourced and borrowed the proper tools from my brother to get the friggin engine cover off -.-

And finally

5FCFC64F-3A34-4439-A0FE-5FF3ACEB0A33.jpg

Now I'll be able to spray it black, need to sand it down and degrease first.

Getting closer to black and yellow :cool:

Have you got a link to the interior led bulbs?

Gotta love a clean BG.

Here you go, cheap cheerful, error free and UK seller

Look at this on eBay:

Also I stand by the dye, after all it's a dye and permanent. Things been on my brothers van plastics the last 2 years and it's still jet black.

And yeah I need to PM you about the ph1 air filter strap holder part. Monies abit tight at the moment but I'll 100% be after it :smile:

Wicked stuff, i'll look into it.

I wouldnt of charged you anyway, but i had a look and i must have thrown it away. I thought i had it still. Ive replied in your other thread and i think Kit is going to sort you out :)

Another update, this one sponsored by Halfords as that's where I've got everything I've used haha;

D1559088-3D17-4509-8896-3119DC697CF9.jpg

Laquer
Primer
2500 paper
Touch up scratch kit

And

A halfords special order of 267 Renault Black Gold spray can :up:

Close up of the touch up kit:

9367DA4B-9E3F-4768-BBA1-72340F35A0C6.jpg

Consists of a needle/brush for fine touch ups, primer, laquer and an empty bottle as they don't do black gold anywhere anymore (even though they have trophy capsicum red?!) so used my 30ml touch up bottle and filled the empty needle/brush bottle:

63DA1C85-20BD-44D2-975B-71F5006FE6D9.jpg

Need to go to my brothers to get some thinner in it too as its too thick to use as is. So "pro" touch ups will be in future updates.

Meanwhile, engine cover time!

842842D8-ABF5-41CF-8812-527DB323E027.jpg

Dog decided to help for all of 5 seconds.

Sanded down as much as I could and degreaser cleaned with the tiny bit of cleaner I had left that came with the forever black kit

So got it all in primer. Few niggles I had to sand back down once dry and reapply but got there:

Then some progress, here's some shots before laquer;

Stuck on then laquered over

So off to dry for abit and then itching to see what it would look like on :blush:

Yeaaaah :smile:

Once the liquid yellow inlets & throttle body and gloss black fuel rail guard goes on..

:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Towards the near future, one of the last things I'd like to do is buy the stupidly priced yellow coolant silicone hoses, £££ but :cool::cool::cool:

Overall I'm impressed with it. Got quite abit left over too.

Meanwhile

Dat shine.

any updates on this @sparklesTHEpony

Not much mate, spent all my spare payday money instantly on the inlets lol. Payday again this Friday though so I have more plans coming (;

I have set about removing the dash for a future update so I got on with that, surprisingly easy!

Whilst that was out I had an idea of how I can use this sticker that I've had the yonks as a free gift:

5795E2DF-F7A6-4779-B9E1-CF42240E4D25.jpg

Remembered someone on here put "RS" in this space in between the dial, can't remember who but I tried this with what I have and I quite like it :smile:

Looks and seems quite OEM to me so it's staying for the moment. If I don't like it down the line I'll just peel it off.

Nice touch mate, may have to borrow the idea if that's aright :wink:. Im going to say speaker upgrade for the reason as to why the dash is off?

Hahaha I may have stumbled across something good then, it does look really good, especially in the daytime. At night it disapears into the darkness. Something for @Ady182 to make up? I think I'll need a new set too as my "T" has gone bodge.

Third Year on CS and finally got my 3rd membership pack. Useful stuff in this one! Will be keeping these in the car.

It's always a hit or miss with decals/stickers. Last one seems to be a hit. This one I'm unsure of! I'll probably replace it with an ITG filter somewhat down the line.

What size measurements was the sticker mate? I saw it in another thread a while ago and thought it looked good, but completely forgot about it! Will go nicely with my white dashc onversion so keen to get it done now!

I'll measure the sticker on next update mate, just seen your request.

This update is my cleaning stuff orders arriving (all in one day from different companies)

Safe to say my detailing enthusiasm is starting to get out of control. Here's what I'm adding to the collection;

- Microfibre for Glass specifically
- Dodo juice air freshener

From CarPro;

From BearsWax:
- Finishing Glaze

All of that I'm adding to this;

Anyway got a awesome deal on the Turini refurb, bright metallic silver with bright star silver flake in for £180. It's all about who you know :wink: in this case my mates brother lol. Not a shed job either, proper alloy refurb and painting place :smile:

Then after the Turini's are done I'm going to have to buy another shelf for wheel specific detailing stuff -.-

WOW! didnt take long before you caught the bug 😂😂 Does your iron-x smell like death as well?

Send me a couple of air freshners :wink:. When you planning on getting the turnis refurbed, defo set on silver? loves a good anthracite wheel me :tongueout:😂

Cheers Guysy, coming along piece by piece. :blush:
And yeah Luke haha, got infected with it bad. Yep, my iron X friggin reaks, I think dodo juice do one where it don't burn your nose from the inside. Any updates on yours? Haven't seen it in a while!

Turini's defo going silver, my motivation was this car in this thread that seems to have been bumped recently

http://www.cliosport.net/threads/pearl-black-172-phase-2-with-turinis-and-coilovers.596543/

I spent around 3 hours cleaning half of it today. Half because the battery is out in the 1.4 as that's falling apart atm. So I can't move around much so I cleaned the only half you can see :wink: fence/thorn bush side is pure filth hahahaha. Wanted to test out new thiiiinnngs.

Here's the washing/prep stage. Didn't take photos as I was only doing half.

Also.. Bought a proper little cyber shot camera for some better photos!

00000000-0000-0000-0000-0000000000A2.jpg

Steps were:
- Pressure wash
- Snow Foam
- Tar X
- Iron X
- Wash&Wax
- Dry the roof, polished the roof, used eraser to get rid of any polish oils left over, Hydro2'd the roof to repel water and dirt because fxck the roof. Ball ache of a job. With hydro2 on all I'll need to do is maintenance wash it.
- Clayed the bonnet as it was like grain for some reason.

Then the final product after:

- Black Hole Glaze
- Butter Wet Wax
& topped with - Dr. Beasleys Finishing Glaze @imprezaworks & @ADS1982 (thanks to these two why I have this :wink:)

Still can't quite capture it (probably because it's jet black) But in the flesh this is ridiculously Clean/Shiny/Glossy. Like ultimate Glaze! Need some typical asda car park shots under false lights beaming off it :up:

Very nice mate. You like the glaze?

Black is so rewarding when clean. Sadly we are coming to the season it doesn't stay clean for long :(

Haha yeah smells horrific :mask:😂, gonna get the lemon one when i run out. I want to get some new detailing bits but having issues finding out what works best for blue.

Yeah done loads and got some big things in the pipeline, given up on the project thread tho as was practically talking to myself 😂

Actually yeah that silver looks awesome on the black, definatley need it to be bright silver though, i had a flat sort of silver on my old black rep and i already regretted it

Yeah it spreads on easily and buffs off even easier. Quality stuff. Will use it when I know we have sun for at least a week.

Keep updating it! I waffle to myself on this one but I see it as a visual "service history" documentation of what I've started with and ended up with :wink: for example I didn't get an invoice with the matched inlets but this thread proves they're matched lol.

So many stickers

Yeah... They peel off though! There's only 3 on the outside anyway :wink: Decided against the F1 team sticker and filling the Clio badge so I just have the RS logo badge on the rear .. Eventually.

Love the detailing. When you fitting your LY engine bits??? Love to see a pic of that when finished.

End of October/November its all booked in to get everything done at once, brakes, brake lines, discs pads, inlets, exhaust leak fix, Airbox, spark plugs and a general check over etc etc :blush:

Meanwhile here's a somewhat preview (sat on top like a pro) ;

That + LY Throttle, gloss black fuel rail guard and then battery cover should top it all off!
