Just bought a 182...

and to quote McDonald's, "I'm loving it!"

Used to own an Ibiza Cupra which I loved, those VAG 1.8T engines are awesome. Then unfortunately had a Clio dci100 for a while to save some cash.

Was actually looking mainly at Leon Cupra R's (was so tempted by the 270 bhp remap potential!), but only shitty ones were in my budget. Then had a U-turn and decided to stick with a Clio, as was really impressed by the handling on the dci even though it's not a quick car.

Anyway, great decision, amazed by this little car. First impressions, handling is unreal, power didn't seem amazing but then I hit 5k rpm and jesus christ, all hell broke loose! It is soo much faster than the Ibiza!

The power at 5k is awesome, but would love it to come in earlier! Do they have some kind of VTEC style camshaft?

Other things I noticed, clutch pedal is very stiff compared to the dci, idle is a bit lumpy, got some interesting lights flashing when I brake and outside temp reading sometimes dips to -5 randomly! I see some of these are common faults, so not too worried. Oh and gearbox is a bit whiney, is this all normal?!

Thinking about joining, is there anywhere I can see what discounts are available?

Thanks for the link, but I don't have permission to access it, perhaps I need to be a member first?! I see somewhere I'll get access to the guides, that alone could be worth it, I take it there is lots of info in there for the 182s?

Just read about the 5k bit being due to engine coming on cam, no vtec. VVT is probably used for emissions as it is on the 1.8T engines. Really is a kick though, which is why I was thinking VTEC!

The best bit has gotta be how these things corner though...

i dont think the handling is all that, but im used to my cooper s which is the best handling car ive driven so far. think the suspension is a bit soft. so as soon as i get enough dosh im gonna lower and stiffen the suspension.
 
Congrats on the purchase, Seeing as you've bought the car you may as well pay the £10 for the years membership and the little members pack.

Most of the faults youve listed sound common, After all it is frech, Its bound to break.

Post up the symtoms and im sure people will be able to help.

Lol, this reminds me earlier when i was going home from work and a honda prelude tried to overtake me on the dual carriageway straight of the roundabout, i was in 2nd and when it got to 5k i was like eat ya vtec power ya prelude s**t lol
