Just bought Williams No. 123!

My search for a mint Williams ended today in north London! The deposit has been paid and Williams No.123 will be coming back to Wales with me on Friday. Ive looked at about 15 cars: the overpriced, the rusty and the downright dodgy!

The car has 54k on the clock and the current owner only does 4000 miles in it a year. Hes had it for six years and the previous owner was his brother. Its pretty mint, but Ill be refurbishing the wheels and giving it a damn good wax. Its totally standard apart from a back box and panel filter.

The guy went through all the receipts wilth me and by the end even I, The Renault Geek, was getting bored. Got it for £4750, which seems fair.

So - to all those waiting for the perfect Willy, the lesson is to stick at it!

see my post in the media section for the results [pics of my willy 3]

well done.....will we be seeing it at the power eng RR day?

Cheers guys! The wheels arent that bad but Ill be getting the wheels done as soon as I can work out how to get the wheels to a refurbishing place - maybe I could leave the car with them? I left my 16V on bricks for a few weeks when I had its wheels done, but that was a real hassle and the car didnt like not being run for ages.

The Willy looked a bit more old school than my old 16V because the original Willy is a Phase1, but it was just so original and genuine that I had to get it. I got good vibes when I saw it was number 123 as well - I guess its a point of conversation at least!

The car will be getting the cosmetic pampering it deserves as soon as I get it back to Wales and Ill post some pics of it then. :D

Well done Ben you will have to come and show me and take for a rip never been in a williams.

Cheers Pete

Cheers Pete - the Williams was really quite different to drive than my old 16V. I didnt get to really take it above 4000rpm (busy London), but it had bags more torque at lower revs and the handling felt really different too (more solid).

Is the reg plate as nice as the plaque number ?

The car is currently on a private plate, which is why I cant have it for a wee while. Ill be putting it back on the original plate though and its not an exciting one Im afraid.
