k-tec engine mounts for 172 ?

ney.

oem all round except for a dogbone with the powerflex bushes is all you'll ever need.

yay - i have just fitted mine and they are really good! They DO increase vibration on idle particularly but its not excessive and i have already got used to it... just makes the dash vribrate particularly when cold in the mornings lol.... overall they stop any knocking and you get a MUCH BETTER throttle response. worth every penny

if you are going to turbo your car then i would DEFINITELY reccommend them as youl be using alot more power, thus puting more strain on the original mounts

They will soon rattle your car to bits!

They really are not that bad! Yes you do get MORE vibration than the standard mounts but its perfectly bearable tbh! Its only really that noticeable on start up when cold!!! Then yes the dash does rattle but its soon fine when all warmed up :)

The little extra vibration is worth it

half the issues with them are that people dont fit them right any blame the item instead of there self

^^^ This,

People dont fit them properly. You need to fit them, slacken off the bolts a little and move the engine around so it all sits flush without resistance. Atleast thats what i did. There is a bit more vibration without a doubt, however its only more noticable when cold in the mornings! once warmed up it feels fine to me

and what about for the rear gearbox mount ?
the stock with powerflex bushes or theh one like coops solid one ?

stock with powerflex bushes is perfect mate, i wouldnt touch those solid ones. The powerflex one has hardly any give believe me you wouldnt want it any more solid lol.

With out sounding like a fool how do Better engine mounts get much better throttle response ???

ive got the top one in my valver,

theyre solid as a rock mate,
almost no movement in the engine what so ever.

obviously the vibrations will come through to the car, but if you dont mind stuff like that, id say go for it!

on of my favourite mods to my valver imo

Open the bonnet on the driveway, and get someone to blip the throttle. The engine will rock slightly on standard mounts. Do the same with solid mounts and there's hardly any movement.

Without the slight engine movement (eliminated by uprated mounts) the car picks up better when you boot it.

Irrelevant for Ph2 172 or 182 owners though. FBW FTFL. (;

Ok i understand that but how does it pick up beter with less engine movement ????

Big thumbs up from me too. Changes the character of the car that bit more from shopping bus to B-road hooligan.

AFAIK Throttle response is improved as the engine isnt wasting energy trying to rotate itself - the power reaches the wheels quicker in theory.

Ah I see . I like the in theory part a bit like wrapping your exhaust manifold to expel the hot exhaust gas yeah ;)

No its not in theory its in practice, they really do work.

Solid mounts (these arent even solid) are a popular mod through out the car scene not just Clio's

I have them and I'm happy to say that all the knocking went away after fitment. nicer to give it the beans also :D
Recently a friend drove my car and he said it definitely feels more responsive if not even a little quicker than his- he's got a 172
I managed to keep up very closely with another guy's 182 which had full exhaust (inc de-cat), remap, matched inlets plus ported inlet holes on cylinder head and pipercross venom, rear seats also stripped of while mine had the milltek, no de-cat, the BMC CDA, no remap, rear seats on and a 182 alloy spare wheel inside the boot plus some other stuff
maybe the k-tec mounts helped me a bit who knows? he was about 5 meters ahead at the quarter mile mark
