Started fitting the inlet manifold tonight. Thought it’ll be easier to tight the actual bodies back up if the manifold was tightened to the head.

So seals went on first followed by the manifold it’s self then the engine mount thingy.

Wow... I bet this sound will sound real nasty!

Dont suppose youl put any heat shield between the rez or is not really needed?

Yeah should do hopefully ?

Yeah I’ve got the heat shielding from my CUP shell. Go back a few pages should see it.

I fitted the shafts the other morning, just need new hub nuts fitting and torquing up.

Also threw the rear bumper on to cut the tail pipe hole. Marked it up and used the biggest hole saw I had. Not finished yet but get me a god start point.

Any Clio is on the back burner for a few days, need to get my daily sorted as booked on a track day at Mallory on 24th ? can’t wait but got a list and half to sort.

First off was sorting the front end after clipping a badger.

Got the bumper back on the Leon before work. Also removed the fog lights as I don’t think there available for the BTCC kit anymore so don’t want one smashed.

Fits so much better now I’ve replaced these little brackets.

I also fitted new hub nuts to the Clio, just needs torquing up when it’s on its wheels.

No Clio news. Awaiting new bolts for the subframe.

Leon is nearly ready for its first track day.

Fitted new plus, oil and filter and R8 red coil packs

Depending how well it does and I enjoy it I’m either going to make it a track worthy daily so if the Clio isn’t in action I can use it. Or sell it and buy a pickup truck ?

Either way the list of TLC jobs is as long as the Clio to do list currently.

So the Leon completed its first ever track day ?

Had a good day, was busy in the morning but in the afternoon was able to push on and find the weak points.

Back on the Clio now. Finished one fiddly jobs and got it back on its wheels and looking to push this project on quickly now.

all the time then... ;)
PS... Don't finish it too quickly, I will get left behind.

I knew you’d think along the same lines as me ? but I fully intend only use the Leon as a back up to the Clio ?

I’m just trying to catch up with you ??

No real progress recently.

First if I’ve decided I’m not fitting the BYC side skirts as some race series regs I’m looking at state no aero, so they’ll be for sale if anyone is interested.

So refitted the OE skirts

All the engine wiring is pretty much connected.

Next change I’m planning

Question time for the people running ITBs. What do I need to do with the map sensor plug and air temp plug? Can I fit an air temp sensor? Can it get a throttle position sensor loom to fit the OE throttle body plug?

Can fit the OE sensor the air filter backing?
I’m so tempted to bin all the OE wiring and sel the Gen90 ecu and order the PMS DTA ecu and have the interior loom made up.

Do something once and properly (easier said then done).
I think that will solve a lot of issues and give you exactly what you need/want.... just more money though

While I’m in debate with myself about what route to go with the wiring I thought I’d unpack my swirl pot stuff.

Wiring wise I’m thinking

DTA S40 pro and loom from Pure

A digi dash of some sort. Recommendations welcome here as not sure which will work?

Cartek PDP, unsure how to link this with the engine loom, help again here is appreciated as I’m not the best with wires ?

Sounds like your doing similar to me but I didnt stump up for the PDP. In a way I wish I did as they look like a brilliant bit of kit and would of saved wiring a few relays.

I want to have an opinion on the wiring, but I am probably more wirely retarded than you....

Whats the thoughts on the need for a swirl pot though? Is is more of a safeguard?
I have chatted with a couple people and they have said there really isn't much need most of the time on these cars.

The cartek would just use one output to feed the ECU engine loom , you would then use a separate channel for the starter solenoid wire.

You can then set channels to flash for indicators either using the button on the pdp or to take a trigger input from steering wheel buttons.

On mine ive used cheap panel so have still got 5 relays
1. ECU
2. Rad fan
3. Left ind
4. Right ind
5. Aux ( this feeds a small fuse box for low draw auxiliary functions)

Dash wise ive went for a dash 2 as got it fairly cheap 2nd hand , this feeds from the ecu with separate sensors for oil temp, press, speed.

? I hate wiring!

Swirl pot 2 reasons really. 1 to safe guard the engine and 2 childishly I’ve always wanted one ?

So fuel fittings here ?

This is what 220 quids looks like ?

I need to order some more once I’m decided on what route to take from the swirl pot.
As I want to race this I need to enclose the swirl pot so looking at ways to get it through the wheel well and back into the cabin ?
Ideas welcome here.

And now I’ve got the fittings I can look at mounting the FPR which I’m thinking somewhere here.
