Don't get me wrong, the panel looks stunning, but in most cases does it not end up being covered in heat shielding from the manifold?

Think with a standard 172/182 it would be fine to be honest.
May need something with the PMS manifold. The manifold Is lower on the K20 even if I went for a PMS style manifold so will be fine

I get the panel make-up would be fine, and I get that it is lighter than standard, but lets face it most are changing for looks....
But most are likely to still be running brake lines and resi back there so would need heatshield (therefore covering it up)

that’s a picture of mine fitted and I actually run a nimbus heatshield too. It covers my brake lines and comes up to the level of the lid of the fluid reservoir. Can still see plenty of carbon! 😎

Slowly ticking through the jobs. I’ve got loads to do and mock up before I can get the wheels back in the ground. I want the wheels and suspension set before tacking the chassis leg and gearbox mount.

Had this gearbox breather on order for a while as mine was shagged.

I’ve been looking through threads and old pictures for intake ideas, then I stumbled across this on eBay and put in a cheeky low bid.

This is old new stock of the ITG maxogen but it’s the proper race version from a Ford motorsport company. It’s much bigger than the normal box.

Ticking things off slowly but struggling with finding a decent outer CV joint that’s usable once removed. I’ve brought 3 shafts off eBay and all where knackered. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Also having trouble making up a bottom coolant hose that doesn’t play on my OCD 😂

Problem I have is the thermostat even with one that can be clocked points right at the PMS radiator or fans as it’s to big. I don’t want to use multiple angled hoses joined together or use the flexi wire hose.

I’ve now got a Acuity Hall effect TPS to fit to the throttle body and a throttle cable set up that will work with my PMS pedal box 🤞🏻

I need to swap the master cylinders in the PMS pedal box around so I’m running 0.625 for the clutch, 0.700 for the rear brakes and 0.750 for the front brakes.

Still loads to do, but once I’ve got the passenger side driveshaft done, bottom hose sorted, suspension on and intake worked out I think I’ll be able to start welding up the chassis leg.

Whilst the progress on the Clio has slowed, I’ve started getting my Leon back up to scratch as this hasn’t moved since October when I got a company car and the Leon is now out of MOT and with a dead battery.

Plan is make it more of a club sport spec and use at the weekends, track days and Ring trips.

I haven’t even looked inside it since December which has become a right state 🤦🏻‍♂️

I started by taking my Racingline intake off to clean out the air filter and found a problem

So ordered a new Revo setup, charged the battery and it started first turn 😀

Needs a good clean inside and out then sending for MOT. Plans after will be to find new wheels, centre section with a silencer as I was black flagged at Mallory last year and to do something with the interior.

Finally found a CV joint!!

ACE0DCBE-45DB-4E46-A12C-9CD8585D612D.jpeg

After 10 shafts 8 old 2 new aftermarket brands and a lot of research we have one. Turns out these K20-Clio shafts use the 32 internal spline for the outer CV joint which isn’t that common and I think only on the 172 cup shafts. All aftermarket brand shafts inc the cup single piece shafts use the 35 internal spline for ease. I got 2 used shaft with 32 splines and we’re shagged and the rest 35.

Some good news But I still have issues with the thermostat. I ordered a new standard stat hoping the out would just avoid the fans but it doesn’t. I could make this easy and order a standard Clio alloy rad but I’d like to use the PMS rad and twin Spal fan setup I’ve got.

Also got some aero catches and a new CCF bonnet.

Banged my Ricky Evans heated screen in along with the new rubbers. Wasn’t as bad as I thought actually was worried doing it on my own but turned out easy.

Also ordered new Pitking push button releases for the boot as I don’t think I can get aero catches to work with the current holes cut.

Faffed around with the boot for an hour or so today working out why it would never close flush.
Turns out the rubber seal/the inner part of the boot clearance wasn’t right resulting in some of the seal being chopped.

Got all the pins and buttons lined up and it shuts much better. Just need to tighten it all up.

I’m working on getting the car rolling to be able to get the chassis leg welded up. I’m also working out a plan for the rad and fan/thermostat clearance issue.

Still Problem solving. Would be easier if I wasn’t being stubborn and used a normal Clio rad 😂

Anyway to gain clearance on the stat housing and fans I’ve had to buy 2 more fans, this time push fans so I can mount them on the front of the rad rather than rear.

I still wasn’t sure this would work as the rad needs to be easy and quick to remove and refit which the slam panel could of caused an issue. Luckily not and all seems good.

Few milestones achieved recently.

Finally got the thermostat and bottoms coolant hose sorted with clearance from the rad.

Brakes are sorted hopefully now as the discs were hard up against the calipers on the inner section. Wheel studs are loctited on and torqued up.

Just caught up on this, had not seen a lot of the updates.
Really progressing, good to see. Sounds like it has been frustrating though.

You know what’s like, constant battle 😂

I’m happy it’s found the ground and everything looks ok so far. Once I can push it out I’ll know more.

Easily my favourite build on here, ive loved watching this come together. Do the Braids go straight on the AP kit without spacers? Are they the 8s up front?

Thanks mate 😊
Yeah 8s all round and yeah I’m sure they are one of the only wheels to fit but I run/or will be running a spacer 😂

New turrets and top plates look amazeballs! Final item is going to be incredible!

Thanks mate. Can’t wait for it to be done, feels like the major jobs are done now. Just wiring and full exhaust left 🙄😂😂😂

Goes without saying - incredible build.

How have you found the conversion kit itself? Good quality? And how has the support been (if you needed any) from the supplier?

Is the chassis modification fairly complex?

Keep on keepin' on, can't wait to see the finished product.
