I think if you lot used XBL for a few months you'd see what you were missing.

But atm as you havnt you assume PSN is the dogs... but it has plenty of flaws that need sorting... which if they start charging maybe sorted.

I've used both most weeks for the last 18 months and certaintly live has an edge but thats all it has, certaintly not the huge gap the xbox fanboys would have you believe. If (and yes I know Sony are the king of 'Ifs') Sony introduce X chat and invite system then tbh apart from a bit of polish the two will be level pegging, but PSN will still be s**t to those with their heads up their arses.

From a long term busniess point of view sony were stupid not to do this from the start. Now you'll get a load of disgruntled PS3 users who feel they are now getting ripped off.

360 users knew the score when they bought it so there's nowt to complain about. Plus i think over 10 million subscribers shows that people obviously arent bothered about spending a few pence per day for this.

haha, i think its funny that all the ps3 only owners always ragged on live for having a subscription cost and that psn was so great as it was free. Now its a reality is a good idea all of a sudden I have both machines and while i dont think psn is great, it serves its purpose but i play the ps3 so little i doubt i would pay for its online service.

It will still be free, its simply an extra premium service should you so wish to choose that, don't choose it and you still get what you get now

Sony is apparently considering a subscription fee for the PSN's upper tier services. The free PSN service would see exist, but it would now be secondary to PSN pay, similar to XB Live Silver and XB Live Gold. This is not entirely unexpected, as Sony has gone almost two years now with a reported loss in the Playstation division. Xbox Live is a huge moneymaker for MS, so it only stands to reason and makes smart business sense. The only thing is, Sony will have to kick up the level of service and quality of the PSN to get people to pay for it.

You must be joking I was trying to get into a game for about 10 mins last night, it just kept going in and booting everyone out... And try that with mates in a party and it's a nigtmare.

It may look slick but it NEEDS improvment. Play XBL and you'll realize what your missing. I'm not saying PSN is crap because it's not but there's alot to be improved.

I think Sony have seen how much MS are making from extra DLC, game addons, premium themes, video downloads etc and wanted a piece of the action - can't blame them really!

At the end of the day they will only charge as much as people are willing to pay - and the fact so many 360 users are online is testament to the quality of service you get with it, really is superb.

PSN also has benefits such as first party servers - when did you last play lag free 60 player matches on LIVE?

Please elaborate for me whats wrong with it mine seems to work fine, I can play MW2 and FIFA online so I dont see how theres anything wrong with that?

I'm not a fanboy, I own both consoles! I don't think psn is s**t, it's just not great. Oh and as for lag, yes it's evident on both but I get more problems on the ps3 than the xbox regarding matchmaking and being booted from games etc. Both serve their purpose well, but xblive is head and shoulders above. IMO of course.
