Key Fob stopped working this morning, bought new battery and still no luck [MK2 Phase 2]

  Clio Campus 1.2
First post here as a lurker, had an issue this morning with my key fob it worked first thing and as I got to university and leaving the car the fob wouldn't work. I went to a local watch shop to buy the CR1220 battery that the keyfob takes and put it into the key and still no luck.
Does this mean the key is just dead and I need to spend £100+ on getting a new one off Renault?

Thanks guys

potentially I could fix your key for the cost of just a second hand one on ebay.
potentially it still wont work and you would still have to buy a new one

:) :)

Does the little red LED flash when you press the button?

If not, then the switch has probably broke off the PCB

Any good with a soldering iron?

Take it apart and have a check to see if it's become detached

Yeah, be careful because if the switch has come loose, it could go flying and it's tiny enough to be a mission to find. Happened to me! The board is kept in place with what looks like a silicone mould.
Bit of dexterity with a soldering iron did the trick though.
*** Oops, see you've done it ***

Alright so just solder that piece that come loose to the spot, and all should be good if I don't mess up?

Yup, if you want to be sure, you can place the switch over the contacts and press it. The LED should flash.

Couple of blobs over those points was sufficient in my case, and I'm absolutely useless with a soldering iron.

what ive done in the past is add a little glue either side of a switch to add some strength. but not super glue proper two part glue

A depressing update, managed to get the switch soldered down and it worked correctly up until the switch decided to open up and break completely! Guess it's time to hop on eBay for a new switch

Didn't get a spare key with the clio when you bought it? I managed to contact my previous owner and she still had the key... result! Maybe worth trying?

Bought it a year and a half ago from a dealership, there wasn't a spare key apparently, just the one the previous lady owner had. I thought it was abit odd
