Knocking/clicking noise 172

Car  Black 172
Knocking noise on a 172
It's been doing this for a while. When not moving and turning steering wheel it clicks and knocks like mad. And wen moving less than 20mph it does it as well just not as bad or that could be coz of road noise (confused)

The inner joint was knackered on drivers side so had a recon shaft in and slightly better.

The cv joint on passenger had no grease when I bought so knackered that shaft. Had it reconed and solved that problem.

It's had powerflex bushes all round on front.

But run out of ideas. I did hit a kerb a while ago (drivers side). So had new wishbone, steering arm (scrappy job) and subframe :-( but have just run out of ideas. Help please

thanks

sounds as though there could be lots of possibilities, but check that the steering rack mounting bushes are v tight as well as, loose, they can make a 'cracking' noise, esp. whilst stationary

I had a simular problem, check the shock mounts under the bonnet, Mine came up really high had replaced and knocking has gone.

Can anyone tell me where the steering rack mounting bushes are please? Are these where it mounts to the subframe?
