Kyles Clio 172 Cup Project

How do you manage to bolt from above?! Is that not fairly hard?

Pigtail springs can go either way up so it doesn't really matter.

You don't mate.

The spring will only sit one way in the adjuster.

How does the adjuster fit on top if you don't bolt it on then?

Obviously the spring only fits one way in the adjuster as it has a flat edge for that side.

I'm just intrigued as to how the adjuster cuts at the top as in the number of times I've fitted Coilovers it's always gone on the bottom.

The adjuster is held in by the spring bud.

There is also a lump at the top on the body of the car.

  182, SQ7, Trafic
All adjusters I've had are bolted in.

The top of the car has the exact same lump as the rear beam on the bottom, the adjuster then fits over the lump and bolted from below.

Being held in only by a spring doesn't sound safe considering lowering springs can fall out of these quite easily!

That must be specific to the Billy's then?

As far as I know. They were the first set I've ever seen on a clio that sit like that. My spax and vmaxx both bolted through the beam as normal so I was confused when I first went to fit the billies.

Your telling me when i took the v-maxx platforms off and put the bilstein ones on i was thinking WTF. I just couldn't get my head around it. But it kinda makes sense now as the writing on the springs are currently upside down. Bit of an unusual way i must say

Stands under each rear Jack point, 18mm shock bolt undone, shocks and springs drop, remove adjuster and refit it correctly, reverse process.

Please tell me you did this and didn't get somebody else to do it!

@Kyle 86 - Are you happy with the recent paint work on your cup?

I need a little bit of paintwork on my RB (scuff on rear bumper) and am looking for a body shop. Any recommendations?

Update Update Update. It's been 2 years since I've updated this thread

This is because I've not drove her for over 2 years due to tieing the knot which I did September 2016 and cost us an absolute fortune. 30k to be precise (Crazy I Know) then we got a house after our honeymoon so it's seriously wiped me out so I had to take the plunge and take the cup off the road. Painful oh yes, But over the last year I've very slowly been buying parts towards a ITB conversion which is something I've always wanted to do. It's the dream spec to be honest so as the wedding is no done and dusted and other things I thought I'd crack on with where I left off....

Here's a couple of pics from the wedding off my phone. They are not the proper ones just basic ones

Anyway onto the project pictures. Excuse the mess in the garage it's a shite box atm I know. Pictures are not great either but you kinda get the idea

1st few pictures are off the ITB kit which is the PMS 48mm kit complete. I will be running a Me221 ECU. Im also going to be running a Spartan2 wideband controller. Both are currently with Mike @MWM who will be doing the build. Also full headwork will be done plus a few things like a cam tweak on the 438s

As I want to get as much power as possible without going down the forged route I thought it would be a wise idea to purchase things like Supertech valves and new cylinder head bolts and ARP Bolts which I have the pictures off here. Also I've got a new Cambelt kit and new dephaser pulley. Also got a nice alloy radiator which is a Direnza mk2 golf I believe. Smaller fan aswell which is for a Vw Polo. Direnza alloy catch tank for a bit of looks under the bay

I've got a couple of extra bits aswell but can't think of what they are from the top off my head but I am ready to go. I have everything I need now to go ahead with it and have it ready for the summer. I've still got to insure it yet and MOT and tax it but I'll do this once Xmas and new year is out of the way

I've also added a few tweaks in the way of styling which look awesome. All carbon of course, still awaiting a few bits aswell. I'm really looking forward to getting it all done it's going to be awesome and can't wait to bring it out in the summer and CS Festival of course

Couple of recent photos of her. Tried taking the seats out of her to place the cage in but like a complete cabbage I rounded one off the bolts off so I'm awaiting a turbo socket so I can get the bloody thing off
[emoji85][emoji23][emoji23] I'm possibly going to be returning the Turini's back to silver aswell but this won't be done until the build is complete.

All in All I'm proper happy with the way it's looking and coming along she is a real minter and looks so much better in the flesh. The pictures really do not do it justice at all
