Lowering Mk1

  S2000
On a Mk1 1.4RT what size is the nut on the strut top. I believe it's 21mm but could someone confirm that? (it's a bugger trying to find a 21mm deep spanner!)

When undoing the strut top do you hold the nut and undo the alan key or vice versa?

How the f**k can I get the torsion bar covers off? I've tried everything. I asked this in a post in the past and mole grips were suggested but even they aren't working (just got some today). Any suggestions?

I've had threads in the past about this but couldn't find the answers to the above when I looked through them

Thanks.

Thanks mate but I know how to actually lower it (read that and some other before) - it's just the bloody torsion bar caps and getting a spanner for the strut top that's stoppping me

Get to a proper tool place...up in Aberdeen we have Gibb Tools...down with you'll have a machinemart or similar? Halfords/B&Q won't do a suitable deep neck ring spanner...

I've tried machinemart before but they don't seem to have any. I'm going to try a few other places today though.

I have a P1 valver, Dont know if the bolts are the same, but to remove the whole front strut I used 18mm and 17mm spanners for the top and bottom bolt (18mm), and the one that holds the bearing in place at the top of the strut (17mm).

As for the tortion bar caps, I prised them off with a screw driver (they were plastic)

Dont know if they are similar but hope it helps.

Strut top is 21mm swan neck spanner, find a small DIY store and get tehm to specially order one in, i did.

Alternative, as tehy will prolly be seized is to tajke it to a local garage and get them to loosen it with the impact wrench.

As for the dust caps i've always ever used mole grips on every car i've lowered, which is quite a few now, lol, alternativly, as suggested prise them off with a screwdriver
