Lowering my Dynamique

  1.2 16v Dynamique
Have a MK2 Phase 2 1.2 16v Dynamique on a 02 plate and was after some advice on to how far I can lower it. Want to go farily low but I use it on motorways etc quite regularly as my girlfriend lives 50 miles away in Brighton and once a month drive a 400 mile round trip to visit the family in Wales, so still want to keep a fair bit of ride comfort for the motorway journeys.....:approve:

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks muchly in advance.....:D

Well you can go as low as 80mm without any problems.

If your just changing springs you get 2 options really.

- 35/40mm springs
- 60mm springs

most people change to 60mm springs and find its not a problem at all (your shocks will start to degrade after about a year)

Alternativly you can pick up suspension kits for reasonable prices.

Next in line would be coilovers.

All depends on how much money you have to spend and how far you want to go.... either start small and work up.

I'd recomend changing dampers and springs much better ride otherwise I'd keep with a standard setup which isn't bad.
I had my car on SPAX coilover aset to 60mm (more like 40 front and 60 back) and never had any trouble on standard alloysit never caught on speed bumps however quick you went.
I'd go for FK coilovers personally.

definetly fk coilovers. 60mm drop is fine on springs, but the ride quality will never be as good as the coilovers.

I'd stay clear of springs without uprated dampers, ride quality will be poor.

I'd also stay clear of 30/35/40mm springs, the drop is usually hardly even noticeable.

It is most comfortable in mine on big roads and motorways, the worst place to go is on country road round here where they are wavey and its like your in the sea on a boat and I'm not joking. Drove up to london the first day I got mine fitted for a CS meet and was totally impressed, changing lanes was much better as there was no body roll I could nip across lanes with a quick flick of the steering wheel. Also I was much more confident in the rain with it being more of a flat ride instead of the bouncy affect you get at speed on standard sus. I put 15's on at the same time so just had to becareful of tramlining as I wasn't used to actually have to hold on to the steering wheel before.

Cheers for all the advice peeps, most prob get a set of springs and uprated dampers as can't afford to go the Coilover route at the moment...

I've got the Apex -60mm kit on my 1.2 16v dynamique (60mm springs, gas shocks) and it's one of the best mods i've ever done, the car is like a go-kart.
I had it lowered at 1st on PI 60mm springs and it was shocking, the car bounced all over the place when cornering at over 30mph. I've had the Apex kit on just over a year now and the car still feels tight and firm like the day i had the kit fitted.
