Not too late - 6th Feb is last date I think to pay.

The gaskets give a cooler inlet manifold and thus in theory you get more oxygen in so you can burn more fuel and get more power.

Won't that affect the MPG then?

Well got it done today and turns out I already had an RS inlet which was surprising as was told by AWT that mine definitly wouldn't be as it was a 172 and not a cup or a 182. Guess some very late 172's came with them on as mine did. And I guess someone will now get my old RS inlets after a bit more machining.

Anyways, if I'm honest I really can't tell at all that it's had anything done. Shame really as with fuel etc. probably cost me about £200. Hopefully be more of a noticeable upgrade for other people.

Guess it might show it's usefullness if and when I get a less restrictive exhaust and look at a remap but I'm more bothered about the handling than power at the minute as it understeers like a mofo.

I think the inlets are much more effective on cars with a poor casting to begin with, as you said you have RS ones. it's unfortunate you can't really tell the quality until they're taken off!

I've a K-TEC panel filter in the original box after reading many times on here that the standard airbox is actually doing a good job as it is.

I don't want this to put anyone else off BTW as it's a good price and as said if you've not already got an RS inlet then there could be more of a difference.

To be honest with you the RS stamped inlets really dont deserve the praise they get!
Mine has RS inlets on it at the moment, the casting quality on them is rubbish!
I've bought a spare set of RS inlets to be matched and polished and they look equally rubbish!
The matching service is definitely worth it, RS inlets or not!

The RS ones look like this - you have to remove the fuel rail cover first to see

Interesting to see that you didn't get any noticeable gain Gstar..... I also have an RS inlet on a 172 (53) so will be monitoring a bit more feedback before I commit to this....

Had a blast to Nottingham Showcase and back tonight and had chance to give it some beans on quite a few derestricted sections of private autobahn... ahem... anyways. It doesn't feel like it pulls any harder through the revs to me. I think if I had a RR before and after then I'd be able to say for definite whether gains have been made but as it stands I can't honestly say I can tell.

I have an RS inlet on mine and had mentioned that to both APD & JamSport. According to some results the "minimal gain chat" is a load of b****cks - some can be as bad/worse than the non-RS stamped ones. The car being French I wouldln't doubt that for a second so another good excuse to improve

the standard convoluted tubing running to the airbox is the problem, it reduces to about 5/8ths of the size of the throttle body. try a samco hose too?

arrived at jamsport at 8.30am walked in the office the guy offered me and the misses coffee straight away and told me the food van would be round any moment. i signed my car in and it went in the workshop strght away. The food van arrived and i that sorted the hunger out. He then switched the tv on for me to watch while chilling on the comfy leather sofa in
reception. at 10:00 the guy told me the car was finished. i paid for the work done. now for the real test does it make much difference, yes it does i noticed it instantly when i put my foot down even the misses noticed and belive me that is saying something. Well pleased with the service and well pleased with the product 10 out of 10 fellas recomend you any time.
