mk2 v6 vs 182 cup

Do the Vees actually put out 255 ???? I read in threads that some of them only put out about 230-235 bhp .... can't be good for power to weight like.

I would still love one tho ......
 
I STILL "don't get" the Vee - I think that, up close, it looks like it's been glued togther with 'No More Nails' Horridly ill fiting panel gaps, disturbingly ill proportioned...

I just don't like it.

i do like the clio v6 of the several ive driven the performance difference is minimal and sounds angry but its rwd which is the point of the v6
you cant hang a 172/182 and lift off oversteer doesnt count ;)
both great cars but with different agenda's:)

I just don't like it.

I like the Vee but each time I look at them I spot odd looking bits I dont like.

Like where the rear arch meets the quarter with a cheap stuck on look and tacky looking line.

^^That's the best part. The front and rear lights looks utter dross up close in detail around the lamp clusters. They may be a fantastic car to drive but they are not worth £27k new. Fact.

I've had my V6 for over two years and can safely say that it wasn't a mistake in getting one. Would it perform better than a 182 cup? In the right hands probably, but from the trackdays i've done each car has different qualities, i'd quite happily own both!

The v6 when treated with respect is actually nicely balanced on the track, and is so much fun!! you can slam your foot down out of the apex and off you go :)
 
People go on about how fast BMW M3's are, yet they are only about 1s to 60mph and 3s to 100mph faster than a V6 255, the V6 255 is faster than a 182 by the same margin as the M3 is to the V6 255 ;)

A new M3 costs £15,000's more than a new V6 255, so does that mean that the M3 is not worth it too then??

So by your logic, if you want an M3........buy a V6 255 instead, as they are £15k cheaper and only 3s to 100mph slower or better still get a 182 as they are only a further 3s to 100 slower and have room for shopping too lol ;) :)

We are talking about Clios here. M3's are a completely different car. You get a shed load more in a M3 for the money than you do in a V6. The performance from the M3 is fantastic and you get 4 seats, a large boot and BMW quality. You also get one of the most well-sorted saloons on the road.
V6 - hhmmmmm let me think.....you get a nice V6 and lots of kit. Oh yeah, you also get that famous Renault build quality and 2 seats.
Bad comparison there mate. My point is the price doesn't justify the car and I would buy the 330 anyway.
I do like the Vees, they are very exotic and you don't see them everyday but I would go elsewhere with £25K in my pocket. Maybe you should give me a shot in yours.

my point is the m3 is faster than a v6 by the same margin as the V6 is faster than the 182.......and looks 10 times better too....

14.6 to 100mph..... 3.2s better than the 182 :)

but I guess it depends on what mag you read/believe, every 182 I've had behind me has stayed behind me by a long way too....lol

Fair play but the 182 is a 182, a 14k shopping trolley. The V6 (IMO) is a poorer looking trolley with plastic add-ons. I just think it looks rank and I'm entitled to think that?

Which are 15.0 to the ton for the 255 and 17.0 to the ton for the 182 ff, so 2.0 seconds then.

Guess 2.0secs is light years lol.

This thread is in danger of boiling over!! Some good comments have been raised, it's the xbox v ps3 for clio's!

Factors to consider: performance, pacticality, looks, cost - everyone is different, if we all had the same opinion then we'd all be ford owners so lighten up!

If cost is a consideration then so be it. It's what forms exclusivity. I'm proud to be an owner of a car that has huge admiration, full stop.

Plastic add-ons?! fibreglass i think you'll find. I hate to say it, but a bit of research goes a long way.

I'm in the process of repairing my power steering line, I removed all the trays under the car today; the work that has gone into the car is quite amazing when you take a look at what the engineers had to do.

So 0-100 is actually around 15, which is 2 seconds better at best. Significant.

Supercars do the ton in under 12 IMO.

Agreed, although Evo don't have 0-100 for the aformentioned cars, they do have them for the trophy at 17.3 and the mk1 V6 at 17 and the Megane 230 at 16.

The Golf R32 is 15.2, and the V6 is lighter than the R32 and is 182bhp/ton to 165. So i'd be inclined to put the V6 in the low 14s definately.

Fair to say that absolutely. As i can't get any hard data, i'm making an assumption! I've always thought the Nissan 350z has a similar performance, but that's missing 0-100 as well.

The difference with the Nissan is that you can actually put the power down from standstill without melting the clutch and spraying gearbox oil over the engine bay ;)

Imo, the 350z is the quicker car - but only by a gnats c**k.

So that means the M3 can compete with some £100K cars, which means it is a bargain! The M3 is a classy looking car where the V6 is not. But it's not meant too. It's an 'in your face' all talking, not so much walking Renault Clio. If the 182 is a shopping trolley, girls car then fine. At least I won't be crashing my shopping trolley at 20mph, like everyone seems to do in their Vee. (I've seen at least 3 posts that said this)

Bottom line here is, people buy the V6 mostly on looks because there are better performing cars for the same price. If having a V6 sitting behind them makes them moist, fair enough. I personally think they look okay as I like Clios, but it's just over the top. Whatever price they might be, which clearly changes everday, the cost per mile is not worth it, in my opinion. If somebody gave me one, I would gladly take it for free!

The v6 is a great excuse for the well off to be a bit wasteful with money. :)

yeah but an r32 is four wheel drive and will get off the line better. guaranteed!!

It HAS got a boot though - admitadtly it can just fit my laptop bag in, but it's a boot none the less. You can fit about 3 shopping bags in the bonnet too!

I doubt that very much - it's an enthusiats car, for people that know what it is and have picked it because of these reasons.

Sorry, but i don't agree with this either. I saved up until i could afford to buy it, and it could only be a wasteful purchase if i didn't value it - which I do. A great deal.

agree about the clutch though....v6 clutch's are s**t :(
I'm on my second and only done 15k, not sure how long that will last...

but not had a 350z get away from me yet ;)

i had mine on the limiter in 5th which was about 151 on the speedo
