Clio wasn't keen with 15 bags of postcrete in the boot

Should be getting the Megane sorted soon so that means I can strip some bits off the Clio and get it ready for some trackdays

Bits to do (for my own reference)

PMS shifter
RC hubs with new wheel bearings
New studs and nuts
Oil change
NSR Disc/ 133 rear brake setup
Brembos
197 MC
Cage
Harnesses
197 steering wheel

Humming on the rear has been getting progressively worse since the postcrete went in🤣

Figured I swapped one rear disc I really need to do the other

I originally bought these discs for £30 (for the pair) when GSF were getting rid of all their stock. I bought em cheap and for good reason... one had the 44T ABS ring and one had a 21T ring from a Megane🤔🤦‍♂️ I bought these discs over 3 years ago!

Came home tonight, knocked the old ring off

Heated the new one up

Knocked it on

Old disc, been on there for 3+ years and a trackday🤣 PBS pads holding up well

20210517_171819.jpg

Still not that rusty/dirty under here to say I only slathered Hammerite and caliper paint on there🤣

20210517_172812.jpg

New disc on, cleaned the studs off. Always remember to stick the spacer washer with the flat side to the bearing and the tapered side to the car. I bet even Dr Pervert, sorry, @Dr Jekyll would be happy with those studs👀🤣

20210517_174225.jpg

I'm hoping it will be quiet tomorrow. The old discs were probably cheap as f**k ebay specials, Goyou bearings🤔🤣

Does it run and drive?
Runs spot on, engine made 189bhp or something at RST
Has this track car done any track days Kyle?
It did one. Then blew up, then covid, then house projects, then megane blew up, then megane blew up, then megane blew up, then more covid

I've been buying bits ever since but have no time to even have a tug these days and going out to work on a car at 10pm can f**k off🤣🤣

I grew some big boy balls and bought something fruity. Let's see what can live on in the Monaco...

Its got some decent bits on it tbf. The receipts from previous owners would get you a decent deposit on a house south of Sheffield too👀 Some people love spending money
You mean you attempted to grow some big boy balls, then bottled it because you’re scared of spending money 😂

With the Mégane out of action the Clio had to be Un-SORN'd just a week after SORNing it🙃

With that in mind I wanted to change the alternator bracket/mount as I got a good used one from @nath&alex which was all lovely and sodablasted. Cheers again Nath🙌

The old one was erm...

Not worth the risk in my eyes, got the new one in and cleaned my tensioner bar up too. Piss easy to work on this compared to the Meg, I reckon I could swap an alternator in 5 mins on this, it's a dream to work on without all the bullshit in the way

20211010_164835.jpg

Charged the battery, took it for a quick spin and it's spot on. Needs a good bloody wash though! It's been 4 months since I last washed it🤣 Seeing the sodablasted bits makes me want to do everything now

The bracket wasn't the only thing I bought though👀

A @NorthloopCup rebuilt box with a Quaife and Mégane 5th gear, slung some oil in the diff and wrapped it to sit on the shelf for a bit. And a TTV lightened flywheel

So far the list of things I need to fit
  • Quaife Box
  • TTV Flywheel
  • PMS shifter
  • RC Hubs
  • Twingo 133 rear calipers, discs and stubs and camber shims
  • Cage
  • Harnesses
  • 197 MC
  • Brembos and brackets with new HC discs
  • Build new engine🤣
Lots of stuff, very little time

The 197 has donated a few parts to the cause

Been using this for the past month, never fails to put a smile on my face when pushing round the b roads on the way to and from destinations

Only issue, common as f**k issue...🙄🤣

Grabbed some pics of it with the Mégane

Now tucked away for the winter. Might sling a new cover on it at some point, the one from last year is shagged but that's what I expected for £15 tbh🤣

Things guaranteed

Life, death, taxes, my steering wheel turning gopping every winter when I don't use the car

20220312_112224.jpg

I never learn and I do it every year, park the car close to the wall, so close that I cant even get a key in the lock🙄 Ordered some enzyme cleaner and a heater to put in there

20220312_110433.jpg

Once I'd sketchily pulled it a few inches I had enough room to unlock the door and get a rake in to pop the bonnet and press the central locking button😂

20220312_110744.jpg

Started to try and find where the moisture is coming from because inside was quite wet in loads of places. I had a suspicion it was the aerial base

Stripped back

20220312_114557.jpg

As suspected

20220312_114747.jpg

Fresh drops of water on the headliner. Because of the headliner backing material it just drops on there and runs down to the front with it being parked on a slope

I've blebbed the base and hole with some mastic so with any hope that keeps some of the water out

20220312_114610.jpg

MOT is due April so I'll tax it on the 1st, get the Mégane booked in for some work and get it stripped at work for a few goodies to be fitted

Bought another engine the other week so once I'm happy with the car I can build up a 205bhp+ NA engine for it. I want to get all my other things fitted this year and enjoy it with a lightened flywheel and Quaife for a bit before just going balls to the wall

One of the first things I do with cars that have electric boot releases, where the battery is also in the boot is to fit a pair of wires from battery down to a connector which I cable tie behind a bumper - I made up a little patch lead to go between my lithium jump pack and the connector so with minimal fuss I can power up a locked car to access boot and battery.

Every time I use it I marvel at my own genius for a while before discovering my jump pack is flat or something else equally dumb.

Track car with a headliner and bus steeing wheel 🙄😂.
Steering wheel has been in the garage for 4 years

No PAS so I cant have a mini cheddar for a steering wheel like you😂😂

This sounds like too much work for a shaved ape like me, the reason I couldn't unlock it was because the UCH is probably underwater😂😂😂
