Hey mate, yes that would be me I go through Clowne on my way to work in Shirebrook.
I know that road very well ;)

Me too! I used to live in Clowne but now living in Palterton, travel that way to and from Halfway everyday. Such a crap drive when you get stuck behind someone doing 30 the entire way.

@mossyv6 when you sprayed the plastics did you sand them down and prep first?

How well does the paint stick to a plastic?

Always thought it would flake off easily?

Mine are looking sorry for themselves too!

Nothing special mate - just a wipe over with thinners and a couple of coats of Halfords satin black.

Project finished and now with its news owner. I honestly can’t believe how many messages/texts/calls I had for this car.

Couple of photos from the advert:

A few small jobs done today:

Trophy

Foot pedals replaced as originals were in poor condition and I was going to swap them to 197/200 but gave up.
Found a half decent set on eBay and polished them up and fitted.

Replacing a blown bulb in the heater control. This turned out to be a pain as I had to remove the heater unit to get the bulb out which involved 3 fiddly wire controllers.

A bit of an update.

Spotted this last weekend on Autotrader and thought it was worth a viewing and I enjoy a challenge!

Pro’s:
65k miles
Brand new cambelt, aux belt, waterpump just done with receipt for £600.
Clutch and dmf just done with a receipt for £900!
Drove well, boosted well, no smoke etc
Very clean.
Cheap as chips!! (But we will see).
Great family boost bus :)

Con’s (quite a list):
Mot history like war and peace!
No Service history at all except for the receipts above plus latest Mot cert.
Mot history shows a slight mileage issue but I’m sure it should be 26k not 28k.
Needs front brakes and a couple of tyres and a service.

But as I say I like a challenge.

So offered what I thought what it was worth, they thought I was joking so explained why and they eventually agreed and deposit left.

So today I picked it up and saw @YorkshireKyle on the way.

Didn’t go as well as I thought - car had a flat battery and told them they hadn’t changed the front brakes as the MOT suggests and I bet the rest hadn’t been done, I told them their guaranteed mileage was crap due to mileage issue I had found so I persevered and haggled the price down even further.
They charged the battery and got it going.
Paid up and the drive home was spot on.
I also found a console full of money.
10F7106D-E1DC-4EB2-9CBE-9D83FC63066A.jpeg

But I think they forgot to clean the boot :(

Challenge on! :)

You should have said you were off to pick this up😂 I've got Megane parts you could have had!😉😂 Good to see you as always mate

Thanks Kyle, the place was about 2 miles away from you and proper shady!
My sister in law (that was her yellow corsa ;) ) thought I was going to start fighting, lol. He actually through the jump leads across the car park at one point! It took them ages to get it going and it was p1ssing it down. Think they were glad to see the back of me.

Plans are:

H&R lowering springs.
A couple of tyres.
Wheel refurb.
Front splitter.
Front brakes and rear pads.
Service.
Check the mot advisories - I am convinced none have been done even though they have disappeared.

And get some receipts in the history.

Sounds like you've had a fun day Paul 😂. The 225 trophy was a nice looking car back in the day, can't wait to see how this turns out.

I’m normally a very calm man Paul but these clowns wound me up but I dug my heels in and stayed calm and reminded them of my consumer rights!

If it was from anywhere round here I'm gonna put money in them being idiots! I never buy cars from round here because they're all complete and utter useless twonks!

Did you pay regular trophy prices or 225 prices?👀

Yes totally agree and I was expected it tbh. I was speaking with one and then all of a sudden there was 2 of his brothers with him.

Price wise it was unloved 225 money.

Yeah that happens, I went to view a dCi clio in Ravensthorpe once. A lad stood there with about 6 other family members trying to tell me it was a good car. It was a proper nail!

225 Trophy

Had a spare hour this morning in between looking after the kids.

So I thought I would tackle the exhaust:
C498E505-351A-4E92-8496-A2261E4807AF.jpeg

I honestly thought it was beyond it’s best and nearly bought this as it was original with a back box chop and very local.
9510B2F9-609E-4ECD-9761-00E73B73C326.png

But thought sod it, this is only an in between car and trying to keep costs down so I will have a crack with the wire wool and autosol.
One done:

Both done and job done :)

Very rewarding and didn’t cost a penny!!
