mot failed...what price for fixing?

Hi all, i rescued an old clio a yr ago from the scrap heap that came with a yrs mot...well it has now failed its mot on handbrak lifting way too high, front discs very scored, pads nowt left, movment in suspension top.

so im guessing new discs and pads, new top mount for suspension, and poss new hand break cables.

Anyone know how much from a garage ????????????

Might be able to adjust up the handbrake, pads and disks will be pennies from a motor factor, maybe 40 quid if that

Prob about 15 quid for a top mount

Whos doing the fitting? set or spring clamps and your own time, another tenner

Do the work quick and the re test is free!

Unfortunatly i have no time (work nights) or any where to be able to do the work (live on the road side)

The garage is gonna do the work as i instructed but he said he would come bk with a price (he is a small garage)
Im just wondering what to expect?

i would say 60 quid of parts plus a couple hours labour

Depends exactly what is needing for the handbrake right enough

Wouldnt be expecting a bill for any more than 200

work on 200 as said above and you shouldnt go too far wrong. you may save some money too if you buy the parts yourself instead of letting the garage by them in for you.

unfortunatly i am not around due to work so left the car with the garage and using the bike for transport. they said it would be done on wednesday and hopfully they will tell me a price before i go get it or they start the work. ive never had a clio before and as its an old one i dont know much about prices.

I would be able to fix all this for £90 - £130 Depending on what is wrong with the handbrake.
If your near Ipswich i'll do it.

You got the parts for a fairly good price tbh but the labour's a bit excessive imo. most of that could of been done yourself and sourced yourself from a local motor factor. Could of probably done it for £150 including MOT if you done it yourself. Certainly wouldn't of taken 3.5 hours unless they were working at a snails pace.

all in all i'd say it isn't a terrible price but it could of been a lot cheaper.

all of this is IMO ofc.

Dean, i wish i could do it myself but like i said above i hadnt the time due to work or the space to do the work, i rearly wish i could of done the work myself. but i take it 3.5 hours is alot to do all that work?????????????? maybe. glad it isnt a bad price...settled my heart a bit.lol

I think the time taken is a bit long tbh. 3 and a half hours???!

But even if you'd knock an hour off it won't make that much difference to the final invoice.

35 an hour labour is cheap mos are 40h or more 3.5 hours is not bad to replace discs pads strip down the shock and rebuild the make up 2 new brake pipes the blead the brake system. thats not a bad price from a garage.
