My Arctic Monkey's - 172 Cup & 182 Tubby



The Dent man did a great job and got 99.9% out, worth every penny!!

Bumper came up a treat after paintwork and polish :up:

Wheels to do then it will be spot on!
 
Damage to the inlet journals.

Shells were not too bad but some scoring.

Ringland on piston 2 an 4 were shot and the valve damage on 3 was the cause of the bottom end pressure :up:

To anyone boosting a clio, dont fit meggy pistons, they are turd!

I only drove the thing to work and back, i very rarely even booted it, pile of s**t things!

It wouldnt surprise me if they were fucked when they were fitted tbh.

I wish i had the knowledge to do it all myself mate, at least you will know its done right.

Pretty much all the other stuff he did on his conversions were 2nd hand so it' got every chance !
 
Picked up the Cup's new boots today. Went for Rainsport 3's in the end, looking forward to see how they perform!

My full spare turned up today ( thanks @jmt33 :up: )
So all five rims will be off for some love tomorrow at Pristine Alloy Wheels, cant wait to get them back looking like new! Oh, and am now keeping them standard silver for the "OEM" look.......

I have a play with the pressures. But more than stand 33 ish seems to work well on these. 35/36.
 
You sticking with the 225 pistons? I’m doing a similar build to mine.

I've ordered Megane Wossner pistons and PEC i beam rods. I am having the block overbored to 83.5mm. Going the have the crank ground and balanced too. Am looking into no VVT cams and running vernier pulleys with supertech valves and springs BUT that may change

Nice! Will be a very capable motor :cool:
 
Old top mount and dephaser off the Cup. Replaced the top mount with the 182's Vibra mount :up:

Cup checklist: Completed
Mot'd
New Lucas alternator
New cam belt kit and pulley's
New dephaser pulley
New drive shaft
New exhaust hangers
New wipers
Rear bumper re-spray
Full car machine polish
X2 New Cup172 badges
X5 Alloys refurbed (should be back Tues)
X4 Rainsport 3's
X12 black eibach wheel bolts
X4 Locking wheel nuts

Cant wait to go have a play in her :grin:

Picked up the new 2nd head for the 182T, came with a free block and crank :up:

Fitted an engine cover and new header tank with fresh antifreeze coolant. Also did oil and filter along with new air filter. She'll soon be ready to help pay for the 182T build.

Looks good, love the wheels

What do you think caused the pressure in the bottom end from its original problem? I read some where’s turbo 172/182 suffer as they don’t have a one way breather on the crank case like the Meganes?
Don’t know how true that is
